1 egg, 1 flour

is the same as

1x + 1y

you have to multiply them to get them together, which of course would be 1xy or just xy, thus physically mixed

but thats just multiplication

i think that on page 3 hundred something of principia mathematica it's written something like

"if everything before here is true until otherwise proved then, 1 + 1 = 2"

hurray for greek civilization.. then again they could at least have picked a better algorithm than 10 based... the babylons had a 48 based, they were smart, 48 can be divided by a *lot* of numbers, ten can't *grudge*

We have a '1'

and we have a '+'

and we have another '1'

and we have the '='

so that makes four items in a string. The item after the '=' is the end product of the string of items. there fore the answer is four

wel
1+1= a window

but that dosent answer why 1+1=2

my rellavence? well not many of the post's attempt to answer the question in hand
