I like this one better, which was the best one in the UK.

A woman gets onto a bus with her baby.
The bus driver says, "That's the ugliest baby that I've ever seen. Ugh!"
The woman goes to the rear of the bus and sits down, fuming. She says to a man next to her, "The driver just insulted me!"
The man says, "You go right up there and tell him off. Go ahead, I'll hold your monkey for you."

My point is "funniest joke," cannot be determined.

IMO that joke was funny, but not the funniest.

Basically, they said, it's the joke which appeals to the widest audience.

That's far from the funniest joke in the world. More like "the joke that everyone gets and yet is just funny enough to make them chuckle when they read it."

There's a Monty Python skit where they were using the funniest joke against the Germans during WWI (II?). I just remembered that... you've got to love Monty Python.

Yup. Monty Python rules. I just love the skit they did on Humor...and the Parrot...and the 'I've come to have an argument'...and...the list goes on...

And, of course, the Lumberjack Song...hehe...'I'm a lumberjack and I'm ok...'

A joke with a lunatic asylum? Sure, why not...

A mathematician went insane and believed that he was the differentiation operator. His friends had him placed in a mental hospital until he got better. All day he would go around frightening the other patients by staring at them and saying "I differentiate you!"

One day he met a new patient; and true to form he stared at him and said "I differentiate you!", but for once, his victim's expression didn't change. Surprised, the mathematician marshalled his energies, stared fiercely at the new patient and said loudly "I differentiate you!", but still the other man had no reaction. Finally, in frustration, the mathematician screamed out "I DIFFERENTIATE YOU!"
The new patient calmly looked up and said, "You can differentiate me all you like: I'm e to the x."


And what page of jokes is complete without at least one chicken crossing the road? (Or the Möbius strip in this case.)

On the subject of Monty Python... The Fish Slapping Dance has got to be the funniest 15-20 seconds of television ever. Of course I could be wrong about this... but I'm not

Lord_Fukutoku, I get them, they just aren't funny. Most math jokes aren't. Sorry.

Never heard of the mobius strip, but I don't think that means I'm lacking intelligence...just a little uneducated maybe.

Sorry Jeni, probably shoulda worded that a bit different, but you get the idea. Wasn't meant to offend anyone who didn't get it.

St. Senaca - There are many jokes that I get a bigger kick from than those two, it just happened that those were the last two I had in a notepad on my desktop and I didn't feel like writing out one of the longer ones I know. However, the e^x one is a lot better than the hunter one that won. But if by chance you liked the hunter one though, I would highly recommend listening to some of Jeff Foxworthy's stand-up routines. He's real big on the red-neck jokes.
