Imagine the situation:

You're at the super market, picking up your weekly goods, as is the ritual you've had since you've been out on your own. You load up your shopping cart and wheel the squeeky collection of aluminum to the check out lane. Nothing out of the ordinary, just clockwork routine; you've done this almost a million times before and it's never changed. So you're standing in line, waiting for the elderly woman ahead of you to pay with thirty coupons and a check, when you just happen to glance behind you at the person standing next in line, and you can't believe your eyes. It's like looking into a mirror, the person standing there is your unknown identical twin. Down to the hair style, this person has your eyes, your nose, your style of clothes, and near the same groceries.

What do you say? How do you react to him / her? Do you attempt to just quickly check out and go home, forgetting the whole Twilight Zone-eque turn of events, or do you bring this person into your life? How was it that you were never told you have a twin? Or is it something other than that, a fluke in human genetics that allowed the rare chance to have your cells be duplicated in someone else? Are you the copy? Is he / she? Is there a copy?

Cool scenario.

I would definitely approach him and find out all I could. It would no doubt be a hoot. And, of course, he would reciprocate because... well... he's me

I would take 'em home with me... it would be a great help around here. heh.

In truth, I do not think I would be able to stand a complete replica of myself for very long. He would be a good person to take to the movies though... then we would alwasy laugh at the same parts.

It's great seeing different people's reactions to the situation, an amature study in human nature. Personally, I'd have to really get to the route of the whole situation, I mean, I'd definately want to know if my identical and I were actually related, or if it was an actual fluke of human genetics. Needless to say, my Mother and I would be having a really long talk that day... hehe...

You know, I look back at how many people I've dealt with in life, and all of the good along with the bad, and if this person were exactly as I am, that pretty much doubles the amount of drama put into the world because of a singular person. Sad thought.

Pee-wad. Hahaha...

I'd have to find out who he was, where he came from, why I'd never seen him before until he just... appeared... in my suermarket... Gods... It depends on so many things... was I secretly cloned by the gov'mt? Is he my alien replica come to kill me and take my place? Is he my twin? Is he my twin look-a-like that everyone is supposed to have somewhere in the world? It sort of depends on the situation surrounding the reasons he exists for me to determine what I would do..

i'd kick the shit outta her! it was obviously HER doing all those bad things that got me into trouble all my life!!!
LOL

nnaa...but i do know that we wouldn't get along, cuz they've said that twins raised apart are more alike, and since i don't like most people and least of all myself...then we'd already hate each other *g* but then again that would give us something in common, so maybe we'd have something to build on there and would end up being best friends, hangin at the beach makin fun of children and old people....

I would turn to him and nonchalantly say, "'sup?"

After that it would all depend on his reaction.

We would spot each other trying to creep up on the other one and then play shooting at each other with bananas until we got thrown out of the supermarket and then we would either try and kill each other (probably dying with our hands around each others throats) or come up with a way to get as much comedy potential out of it as possible (perhaps by walking out of one door and in another moments later dressed slightly differently).

Lacuna: That just made m head spin but (after drawing it all out on a piece of paper) I makes perfect sense.

Hmm, am I the only one who got a laugh out of the irony of that statement?

Back on topic--
If we were that similar, as njuice described, we'd both be thinking of the best Monty Python-esque way of getting a laugh out of it. Kinda like what Emps said, except maybe not killing each other. But for long term, I generally can't stand people like me, and who could be more like me than me? Except possibly the other me...

quote:
Why was I with her? She reminds me of you. In fact, she reminds me more of you than you do. - Groucho Marx

But there's definately a Gnome potential here. However, no one here knows about the Gnome, so the quick background: My dad played this huge practical joke on everyone at the last family reunion. After the whole story finally made its way around to everyone (several days later, after we'd all started heading home), one of my cousins decided to get him back, and wrote this long letter building it up and everything, and at the bottom put, "The game is afoot." Well, with her handwriting, it looked like "The gnome is afloat." And we went all the way with it and now whoever has a (good) practical joke played on them has to keep the big plastic gnome we bought, displayed on their coffee table or somewhere out in the open...
Anyways, there's lots of potential for some really good practical jokes here...

And on the even better side of it... Now each of us only have to go to school/work half the time That is, assuming we got along at all, which I don't see happening...

[edit: Wow, I haven't made a typo since... umm, last time I posted

Well, given my circumstances, I would assume that he was a government clone who was ordered to kill me and take me place, wreaking havoc in Korea and possibly starting the second Korean War. So I would probably have to do my duty and kill him.

Seriously, though, if that really happened, I'd probably just freak out for a good two and a half minutes.

juice: If I were the government clone, I would have orders to kill the original me... seeing as I don't have any such orders, I can only assume that my clone is somewhere out there in the dark night, plotting my demise. What an invigorating thought.

if i were my clone, i would like me way to much to kill me.
and as i am me, i know this, and wouldn't be scared of myself.

now, what i would do?

well, i would challenge myself to an arm wrestle, play scissors paper rock with myself, and then start freaking people out.

for example, at a bus stop, we would sit on either side of a person, moving and stuff, but perfectly mirroring each other.

i would be a good partner for bike riding, and snowboarding and stuff too - i ride at exactly the same pace as myself, and on the snow, we would be furiously trying to outdo each other.

problem is, he would be as crazy about my girlfriend as i am, so i'll have to keep him away from her... unless of course, he has a decent one himself....

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

no, stuff that. he would be as much a moron as me.

the first thing we would do is see if we become the one, individual person by running at each other as fast as we can.

and the second thing? we would try again, but even faster this time.

reitsma, if your girlfriend slept with you clone would she really be cheating on you? I don't think so. You could have an interesting 3-way though.
