It's hard for me to understand how anyone could hit a person with their car and then leave them stuck in that car to die without calling for help. In my opinion, this woman's actions were murder and she should receive the appropriate sentencing that goes along with act. What do you think?

Yea, I remember when this happened. I was living in the area at the time. I think I remember hearing that she was pretty messed up on drugs when it happened, but there was no mention of it in the article, it just said she was drunk.

There was a similar case here a year or so ago. Some guy hit an old man on a country lane and he got caught on the sun roof and the driver went and sat in a pub while the old man died on the roof.

It does make one wonder about this kind of thing. I remember seeing a very similar stroyline on CSI once and I thought it was a little unrealistic - clearly not

This story has been all over the news for the last week. I can't believe how someone could drive through town with a body on their windshield and no one else notice or call 911... the story I heard said she did drive home through town, not like on the highway or anything...

I can understand perhaps she didn't mean to hit him - I also heard she was under the influence of more than alcohol, and probably was freaked out about the charges for that on top of hitting someone... but to leave a man to die in your garage while you sleep? That's just wrong. And you know she has to know it! And her lawyers want to reduce her charge with "failure to provide assistance"...

If not murder, than most certainly "vehicular manslaughter".

edit - teach me not to read the article first! I didn't know they had convicted her already... The article does say, "after a night of drinking, smoking pot and taking Ecstasy." No wonder she wigged out...
I hadn't heard this part:

quote:
The defense said it was Mallard's friend, Clete Deneal Jackson, who talked her into dumping the body and concealing the crime. Biggs' mutilated body was found the next day in a park.

She only got "tampering with evidence, 9-years...

What a mess!

Hey,
I did read the article and it didn't mention anything but alcohol. It looks like they changed it.
