Freaky stuff in that 'wow' kinda way. Won't be long and there'll be no place to run and hide.=)

It goes quite nicely with the "Iris Scanner" the Canadian gov't implemented the other day which supposedly will speed up border crossings. You first make application then when approved you go to an office where youor iris scanned... then at the airport you can take the express line... stand in front of the scanner... bla bla...

The only thing that crosses my mind on the 'chip'.... is would the info on the chip be destroyed if you got too close to an electrical source of some description... or perhaps a magnet.

Anyway.... cool yes... but very frightening.

Well, I know I can tell them where to stick their chip on me... Right between my @$$ cheeks so that way when they go to I.D. me I can just drop my shorts and moon them.

~crunchy sounds coming from the backyard~
How the hell is this thing going to fit in my head?
Already there is fit in:
-And old insecure grey mass making odd decisions.
-half a liter of red organic fluid
-some very hard bone (ask the table, and my friends)
-an unmeasured amount of insanity
-a very discutable amount of creativity
-some very dangerous things coming from the earlier stages of evolution (my reptile brain part don't want to comunicate about it).

Realy i only want it if get an "always-on broadband flat rated internet service" with it for free

The only thing I'm worried about is that we'll all become allergic to magnets, and contact will stuff up our brains, and we'll all end up singing like insane folk singers.

Aren't they already doing this kind of stuff to animals in big cities and putting chips in dog tags for people in the army or something? I thought this was kinda semi-old news. (At least I know my dog has a chip in it's neck or something.)

The article points out that this is old news for animals. New news for people.

Is it just me, or am I the only one that's surprised that this is only happening now?

Honestly, this has to happen if we ever want to see real benifits from this kind of tech, and it's bound to happen eventually so why fight it. I can live with being low jacked if it means funding into this kind of tech leads to me having a 10 terrabyte bluetooth storage device implanted under my thumbnail. I for one will be glad to see the end of CD's and DVD's.

Add stuff like that to audio decives implanted into the ear and you'll never need an MP3 player again. This is the kind of stuff we used to dream about when reading gibbson novels!

You don't find it the least bit frightening, the things that this type of tech could lead to? I mean, it's obviously limited now, but the potential for gross abuse of human rights by corrupt goverments is a little too significant for me to be excited about having a personal storage disk in me....

The "inconvenience" of opening a disk tray for my CD is something I can live with, compared to the government's ability to monitor or perhaps even control my body functions via an implanted chip (yes, I do know that's not what they're doing with these things yet, and I know that there is bit of a leap between here and there. but this is, once again, a big step in the wrong direction...).
