Yep, there was no reason to make huge groups of commuters suffer just to get this asshole's arm out of a toilet. |

It's not the phone that is important.. it's the sim card with all his numbers on that may of been of value to him... he may now have lost someone special to him forever.. and I dont think he 'planned' to get his arm stuck... I would not be so hard on him.. |

Xpirex: While I usually try to cut people some slack, what was this moron doing with his phone out over an open toilet? And even after he dropped the phone in, I could think of better ways to go about attempting to get it back than sticking his arm in... |

I knew a guy who once dropped his rather expensive Nextel phone in the toilet... Apart from the dunking it gets in the toilet (whether it's a fresh bowl or not!), trying to get it cleaned off and dried out to be useable again is always gonna be a gamble... The Nextel phone never worked properly again - we had to spend $200 on a new one for him shortly after what became known as "The Powder Room Incident". |

Well Suho.. I have a little sympathy because I too once dropped my cell phone down a toilet.. fortunately I was not on a train and retrieved it instantly... I was a little tipsy and just popped it dripping into my pocket. A day or so later I turned it on and it worked perfectly... |

OK, this is what I don't get: how exactly do you drop your cell phone into a toilet? I'm trying to imagine ways for this to happen that wouldn't involve idiocy (or drunkenness, as you mentioned), and I'm having a hard time coming up with any... |

Suho - phone in pocket, take pants down, phone slips out of pocket: kerplunk! That's the most common way, in my limited experience... |

bodhi: I thought about that, I did, but I just can't see how that can happen. I even went into the bathroom and pulled my pants down several times in succession just to get an idea of the physics involved. I've owned a cell phone for years now, and during those years I've taken a good number of craps. Never once has my cell phone even come close to popping out. I've never heard of any of my friends losing their cell phones to the crapper. It just doesn't happen here. Koreans are more likely to die from exhaustion after playing computer games for four days straight than they are to drop their cell phones in the toilet. |

Suho: On vacation last year, I had a digital camera strapped to my belt, and I went to take a piss. Well, all the urinals were 'full,' (meaning, of course, every other one ), and so I took a stall. Well, I unbuckle my belt and off pops the camera into the toilet (in a waterproof bag luckily) which hadn't been flushed. Needless to say, that bad went through the wash LOTS of times. The camera was fine though. Probably happened like that. |

Raptor: Heh, well, you know what they say--stereotypes form for a reason. I think I can get at least three different cable channels that show StarCraft (and other gaming) tournaments 24 hours a day. I've seen ads on the subway for "gaming universities" where kids go to learn how to become "professional gamers." Frightening--although I suppose an argument could be made for professional gamers along the lines of the argument for professional athletes... |
