When you create some text in Illustrator you can add a line around the text and specify it's width. |

Yep. I know when I option+click with the resize tool. it has a check box to scale line weights or not. Must be some preference somewhere that sets that for dynamic scaling too. |

'zactly right, Steve. In Illustrator 7/8, it's "Scale Stroke Weight," in 9+ it's "Scale Strokes and Effects," both in Edit>Preferences>General. If you ever want to scale a stroke but not an effect, you're out of luck -- you'll have to clear the effect and reapply it after scaling. |
