Does anyone know of a book that gives drawing tutorials using Adobe Illustrator? I'm looking for a book that I can buy so I can use Illustrator to draw basic drawings using Illustrator. These drawings are simple illustrations made of vectors (bugs, kids, fruits, vegetables, cars, etc). Simple illustrations as in the ones found on kindergarten coloring books. Thank you.

The most useful book I have found on illustrator is the "Illustrator 10 WOW book" is has simple step by step tutorials to achieved specific tasks. People have told me they like the Adobe Classroom series but I personally can't stand them.

I know this probably isn't the answer you were looking for but I thought I'd suggest it. I draw things out by hand on paper with pencil and then I ink it once I've got it looking the way I like. I then scan the picture as Lineart 1200dpi and then run it through Adobe Streamline which places vector points & paths on all the lines in my drawing. Then I take that artwork as an EPS file into Illustrator and colorize it to my liking. This may work well for you to if you can draw on paper well. It's actually pretty quick and easy once you get the hang of it.
