Nice photo's, but keep trying to get closer - I took at least 50 pictures of bees before I got these: |

You don't need an SLR for these shots, but you do need lots of pixels! I took mine with a Nikon Coolpix 5700 (5 megapixels). |

I did try to get closer, but the camera is auto-focus and even with the macro setting on it goes out of focus when getting too close, it's kinda frustrating really. |

Been there. My pocket digital doesn't get very close at all. The macro lens on the SLR really makes me understand how poor the pocket camera was at macro shots. |

You say you dont need an SLR to take those shots? i still dont think my digital canon ixus could do it, it just wouldnt focus at that distance. |

SLR stands for single-lens reflex. It means that when you look through the viewfinder, you're looking through the same lens through which the image is captured. |

OK Wes, I give up - I've edited my post to remove the apostrophe in "bee's", which I found just as annoying as you do. I rant continuously about poor spelling and punctuation in posts and emails, so it's particularly galling to get it wrong myself. I've left the apostrophe in "photo's" because it's a contraction of "photographs" - is this right? |
