I have seen couple of really pretty pics of shizzam, black and white....WITH RED LIPS MMMMMMM!!! AND BLUE EYES MMMMHHHMMMM!!!!

I was wondering what is the best way to add color to B&W photo

I have tried quick mask and such...but I dont seem to get good result...
it just doesnt look real...

I've been at the beach/Florida for 2 weeks and just saw this topic. I'll try to explain how I do it, however, I'm very tired so if I leave something out or you have questions just drop me a note.

I save the color photo with it's own file name. I make a b/w copy with a new file name. I then layer the b/w over the color photo. I erase the area I want to the color to show through. I usually do this at a low level so it's not such a punch of bright color. I then merge the layers and save with a new file name. That's about it.... I think

now shizzzam, yah that sounds like cool wat to do it BUT, I only have B&W pic....

If you have the original color pic, a quicker way to do it is to open the color image, save a snapshot in the History palette, then completely desaturate the image (don't convert to grayscale, since obviously you'll want color in just a second). Then, just use the History brush to restore selected areas to their previous colorful state. Simple as that!
