Dark. Be open minded about it.. some bits from dictionary.com-

Lacking or having very little light: a dark corner.
Lacking brightness: a dark day.
Reflecting only a small fraction of incident light.
Of a shade tending toward black in comparison with other shades. Used of a color.
Having a complexion that is not fair; swarthy.
Served without milk or cream: dark coffee.
Characterized by gloom; dismal: took a dark view of the consequences.
Sullen or threatening: a dark scowl.
Difficult to understand; obscure: stories that are large in scope and dark in substance.
Concealed or secret; mysterious: ?the dark mysteries of Africa and the fabled wonders of the East? (W. Bruce Lincoln).
Lacking enlightenment, knowledge, or culture: a dark age in the history of education.
Exhibiting or stemming from evil characteristics or forces; sinister: ?churned up dark undercurrents of ethnic and religious hostility? (Peter Maas).
Being or characterized by morbid or grimly satiric humor.

A few guidelines:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner," just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No critiques (unless requested) this is just to share our photos.
6. Sigs allowed as long as they're sinister.

Here is a shot of my home workstation with only LEDs, monitor glow, and a lava lamp as sources of light.

Bubble floats furtively in the dark.

Flame burns blue hot in the dark.

Ok now this one needs some introduction. Remember all those wild fires in Southern California last year? Well, I took this photo, believe it or not, at 10AM in the morning on a cloudless day! The smoke was this thick floating over the Southland. We had ashes fallling like snow all over the place and the smell of smoke was extreme. So this was a very dark day.

If I wasn't feeling wayyy too tired to look for some hosting space, I'd link up my very poor picture of the empire state building during the several-hour blackout a few months ago.. Ah well, I'm sure you all can imagine it

Izzay, are those pics of smoke? I'm not quite sure, but they're very interesting.

Weeks up. Krets, I really liked that San Antonio shot.. you choose next por favor.

I'm guessing Izzay's pix are desaturated plasma doohickeys because of the way it seems confined to a cylinder, it does look like smoke too though.

edit: silly punctuation

no desats there. its is a plasma tube though. Black plastic around it with white light on the inside.

Like the old plasma sphere... but it goes up and down.
