This weeks homework is to find a photo in a magazine/book and take a photo that would go well as it's pair on a wall or in a frame. I found one of a guy on steps with the wall to the right, wine bottle, empty glasses, barefoot, dress shirt opened and tie untied.
So This is what I did to match it up. ~Thanks to my roomy for being my model~

Each week we're given a topic similar to what we do here. Then the class votes on the top 5. Once the top 5 are choosen the instructor critiques the photos and places them into 1st thru 5th place. First place receives 5 points then one less point for each place thereafter. I took first place last week. The person with the most points at the end of the course gets a gallery showing at his studio, trophy and a few other things. So for now I'm in the lead. I hope this photo does well this week !

nice.
I wish you success ;-).

Had too look twice to decide wether there were three shoes, or a bottle of wine and two shoes there though. But that's just my monitor going bad. Should correct the gamma one of these days.

Shi - you have the best eye! What a great photo... I'd love to see the magazine shot you used for comparison.

It took me years to learn to appreciate what black and white film can do for a shot...

Thanks so much. I'll let you know how I do tonight.

THIS is the photo from the magazine that I used to make my photo to match. It's suppose to be a little different, light (time of day) all that. A pair to hang on a wall. So I hope I did ok. We'll see.

Wow, that's really nice. I put the magazine photo up next to your photo, and it was almost as if they were telling a story. Beautiful!

Thank you

I'm honestly not trying to brag or show off...but I'm so excited and for one once proud of myself. I took first place last night so I'm in the lead with the highest points so far.
It's like my hobby has grown and it's been confirmed that I have talent or that eye for it
I guess. Since my sister was murdered in December I've really thrown myself deep into photography and given it a lot of time. I'm more serious about it now. I've had some pretty well known photographers look at my work and this photo. They don't know me and aren't bias so I felt good about that. They just happened to see my site and this photo there and emailed me. They complimented me on my gallery and this photo is one of a few that they called attention to.

Thanks for letting me share my thoughts and for taking time to look and comment on my photo

Shi - now that I see the magazine image, I'm even more impressed. KUDOS!

I've always thought you had a spectacular eye for photo imagery - at least, as much of your work as I've seen here. Definitely something you are right in pursuing! I dunno, you have a way of capturing the light just perfect - hard to do...

What better way to heal from that kind of tragedy than to immerse yourself in something you love? I don't guess that was public knowledge before, or at least I missed it - my sincerest condolences

You've inspired me alot, and thanks to you, I learned about DPChallenge. I feel I've improved so much since joining them a couple of months ago. My scores have been climbing, so it's showing. Look for me on DPC as Caba.

Thanks Shiiizz,

Frank
