This one is simple, no need for special preparation. Just pick the photo (or two) that you are the most proud of out of the ones you've taken in the course of your life. You may prefer it because you love how it looks, the subject may have some personal meaning to you, or because the technique you used was novel and you did not think the photograph would come out, and yet it came out rather nicely. In other words - it doesn't have to be perfect or magazine quality, just the one you love.

Rules:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner," just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No sigs.

I took this one a while back when i first got my digi cam. Have not been able to go out and take pics as much as i used to, but this one has always been a favourite of mine seeing as it was the first time i put a bit of thought into a shot.

It is photoshoped , but only the saturation, and i am aware of the over exposed effect it has, but still, its something i am proud of.

Its of my partners little boy Oliver

Edit: Damn typos

I liked the theme, because I can take part of it. Who doesn't have favorite pictures?
Well, being a father of two cute daughters (just biased opinion ), my most loved and beautiful pictures are the ones that I have them as the main subject. So, it's very personal, but that's not against the rules. I'll present two.

The first one was taken a couple of years ago, using a non-digital camera, and it has very little photoshop'ing because it went out of the scanner already good enough.

The second one was taken very recently, using a digital camera, and it had to go through some photoshoping, to (1) decrease the warmth and (2) to correct for the blue introduced in the dark parts due to the correction mentioned in (1). Then I made the oval thing just for fun.

I love the facial expressions of my daughters in both pictures. Not by coincidence, both pictures were taken at the late afternoon, when the sun is down (specially the second one) an adds a lot of warmth to the pictures. The second one has suffered of overexposition (especially in the red channel), but only in parts of it that are not relevant.

OK, I´ve posted it before, but it IS the very best photo I´ve taken so far. I used to have it as my desktop background and could literally stare at it for hours just marvelling at the beauty and functionality of nature´s construction (and wondering how this thing keeps from falling apart in the middle)

BTW, the above is cropped, resampled and enhanced by channel operations, here is the original

Another photo I really like is this one.

Here's what I consider my best shot:

It was taken in Duluth, MN on the lake. It's a 10 second exposure taken just before dark.

hehe. It's only Friday night (EST) and I already see a bunch of excellent photographs. This thread has a potential to becoming a classic. Here's something of my own:

This was a mere accident and I had no idea what it looked like until I developed the negative. The images were shot with a cheap plastic HOLGA 120 camera. There is no indicator of whether you advanced the film or not, so if you forget - stuff like this happens:

The cop's indifference made this photograph:

Shooting through a telescope without any special converters rarely comes out - so I was pleasantly surprised:

That would also happen to be my most recent at the moment.
Link - Sorry about where it's linked from. Could be a slow loading page but hasn't been too bad lately. I've been having host issues for about the last month and now it appears they've disappeared entirely.. using what I've got for now.

I forgot to say that my daughters, in the first picture, are riding a horse, that's why they have that look. Actually, they are not riding, because the horse is not walking (I don't know the English word).

I have shot hundreds of Fireworks shots, but this is my favorite to date. A very happy accident, which is what I enjoy most about fireworks photography. You never know when you will caputure something spectacular.

Something that wouldn't happen digital. Shooting Fireworks last 4th of July, with fuji-Provia slide film I accidently requested the wrong chemistry marking the roll as print film. Well they honored my request, When I saw the thumbnails and was mildly pissed at myself, but soon discovered some rare gems on the roll. As a bonus, I even got the processing free, as they thought it was their fault.

If I remember from photography class, this is a specific technique when not a mistake. I believe is is called cross developing. But it's long time so I could be wrong.

I just wonder if the request could be made on purpose at a lab or if it will damage their chemistry? I may try it again, perhap if I developing the roll myself.

Edit: One day I'll work out how to link images! Help - Why won't my thumbnail show?
Many thanks Viol, the spaces got me! Thx for the tip to edit edits; I'd have a page full by now

Ian, to make a thumbnail, follow these five steps:

1 - [][][][]
2 - [IMG]
3 - [IMG]http://
4 - [IMG]http://
5 - [IMG]http://w.y.c/image.jpg

where w.d.c = www dot yourdomain dot com

And "DON'T PUT SPACES BETWEEN THE BRACKETED CODE AND THE TEXT YOU ARE APPLYING THE CODE TO !!!!!!!" (like I am doing now, if you take a good look above, to avoid the UBB code to work and mess up my description). I think this has been your mistake.

An another tip: when editing your message, delete the text "[This message has been edited by xxx (edited xx-xx-2004).]" that is added automatically, from the previous editing. This way you can edit your post one thousand times and that line will show up only once (just like I'm doing now ... ).

mas: Very nice depth of field on that macro shot. One of my biggest annoyances with macro shots is when the wrong part of the image is in focus.

Wow, thanks asptamer. I never imagined that one of my pictures would be chosen.
The themes are so different here that's difficult to compare pictures.

Anyway, I'll take a look at past topics, to choose a different one, and I'll post it very soon. If 43 themes have already been used, I believe I'll have to think hard

Thanks again.
