here is the link to the Stop the war against Iraq II thread in the Philo&Silliness section.
I was post #90, then on Submit, the asylum thanked me for posting, then forwarded me to a white blank web page.
Curious, I waited a couple hours and it is still white and blank.
Anybody else having this problem?

I fixed it by constructing the reply URL ( http://www.ozoneasylum.com/cgi-bin/postings.cgi?action=reply&forum=Philosophy+and+other+Silliness&number=17&topic=000697.cgi&TopicSubject=Fix+Try ) and making a reply, forcing UBB to recreate the page.

Dunno what happened.

Slime, your brilliance continually astounds me. I mean that in the most praising of ways.
thanks

A long time ago, in a forum far, far away, I was working with some people over the internet on a game (which is still in production; i left the project before coming here). They moved to a newer forum after a time, but the old forum remained up, and a year or so later some of us discovered it and started using it again for informal purposes.

This old forum, however, had been "locked" in a sense when the new forum was created. (The forum "leader" was sort of power hungry and liked to make sure no one was fooling around, and that progress was being made on the game.) By "locked" I mean the reply buttons were removed. There were no "submit new topic" or "reply" buttons anywhere on the forum.

My friend, however, discovered a very old thread on the forum that I had made. I had taken advantage of the forum's HTML support, and created a reply to the thread that mimicked the HTML for the end of a forum thread, and then contained an opening comment (<!--). The result at the time that the old reply had been made was that no further replies could be made, and no one could figure out why (the replies simply didn't show up, being appeneded after the opening comment).

This old thread, because of what I had done to it, had the HTML code for the "reply" and "create new topic" buttons. We took the HTML from these buttons to construct our own URLs that allowed us to create new topics and reply to existing ones.

We eventually created a little separate page that allowed us to type in a thread number and reply to it without having to reconstruct the URL each time. In this way, we started reusing the forum.

Sadly, it was eventually rediscovered by the leader of the project, and he had admin rights, so he removed it entirely.

And that is why I knew how to reconstruct the "reply" URL. =)

Hmm... no I'm not having this problem. In fact, I can see your post. Slime posted something there saying he's attempting to fix it.

I *did* fix it, by making a reply. (Which caused the thread HTML page to be recreated.)
