Argh!!! I hate this, I really hate this. The Korean web thief is ack, at http://kr06.piahost.net/~cpman/ - I'm getting annoyed. I got a series of notes from a few people originally, first he had stolen someone elses site, and after a lot of grief, he finally pulled it. And replaced it. With my site. |

Sorry to hear they got you too DOC. We know what you are going throguh cause the same thing has happened to us as you already know. For us it's the third time this week so, we have taking the links away to our graphic screenshots we had in our for sale gallery. It's a shame we can't show our work without someone taking it after all the hard work we have put into it and then they come along and get it and put it up in a minute or so and say it's theirs. I hope that on our end we nail this guy good for an example to all the thieves who steal hard working designers work. Hey Doc, do you know of anyone who has taken a thief to court? |

Pardon my ignorance, but why would someone do this twice in a row? That's gotta be frustrating. Good luck getting that taken care of. |

This could be very interesting, if memory serves me correct Korea is one of those countries that does not recognize copyright. (I could be wrong with that, but I know that there are a few Asian countries that don't recognize copyright.) |

Hey! What's this? I went to the page again and it popped up something written in a language that I can't read (korean i guess), and asked me to type *something* in. I hit enter, it brought up another alert box that i couldn't read, and skipped past the stolen page into the site. What's with that? |

Interesting if I enter "0000" into the alert box it meta refreshes me to Hansung University. If I try to ignore the box it takes me to http://www.keji.or.kr. Either way the page is gone. |

Yah, looks like we win, sort of. No email reply ever came back to me, but I basically accused all of the politicos of having "no honor", and threatened to make their lack of morals public. The page now acts as a redirect, but I'm going to have place a site watch on the site to monitor changes, they've got a history of doing this. The first I heard of it, they had stolen someone elses site, and after a big hassle they replaced it. With mine. The last time I complained, they took it down but had it back up in a matter of days. |

Yep, that's the plan. I'm just preparing the framework for the pages at http://www.ozones.com/thief/ - they are very similar to the pages I created once before at http://www.ozones.com/scumbags.html and http://www.ozones.com/warezboyz/ - two very successful attempts to fix the same problem. |

Personally, I know that if we were to all find a time where we could send an email at about the same time, it would flood their server, and that would make them sit up and pay attention. |

BTW Doc: What is that funky font you used on the warezboys page to say 'WarezBoys Ripped Me Off'? i would love to get that font, I think that it contains much of that wonderful element called cool. |

Hey Doc, I've been off the boards for a while (Ugh, @#$%^ Quicktime SMIL project) But this seems a rampant issue here so I'm sending my nasty letters. I'm tempted to set up a chron job on my Linux box and nail this guy once an hour but I think that would be stooping to his level. The irony here is that his site isn't bad and he doesn't need to set himself up like this. Jeez send Maa or Allgood the 100-300 bucks and buy a nice inexpensive design. Anyeway Just another flame in the fire. |

Oh yeah, the "thief" pages on my site are just the graphics, and a bunch of code from an older page, with nothing implemented yet. It'd have to error like crazy. I just got a note from the folks at "mynetcentral.com", the guys who host the thief of Allgood and Maa's work, he said "the account of the person who stole his layout was put on hold and will be deleted soon." Good news there. My thief s still active, I get tired of this. The thing is as you've said, their site works fine without my entrance, why do they need to do this? |

Thanks Doc. Yes they had told me that on the letter that they sent to me. We have it where people have to e-mail us to see the full version of the site we have in our for sale gallery...don't know if it best to do that but, we are tired of all this stuff happening and then we have to look like mean people telling them about themself. I hope your problem gets taken care of Doc. Me and Maa mail the people and haven't heard from them. Guess we will do it again. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> Keep up the good work and do what you have to do to get this straighten out. |

Well as DL-44 said, it is appropriate from time to time. But it's like what they say beer should be, taken in moderation. Don't do it often and you most likely won't get banned. After a quick analysis that I did (I have read every post of every thread of every forum, including the archives, I was bored) I'd say less that one in every three hundred posts has language like that in it, and it should stay that way. Everything at the correct time. |

Heh. Nobody has ever been banned yet, and I hope it's never necessary. Maybe repeat spammers might get banned? Maybe continually abusive (to our own members!) types might get banned? Maybe folks who espouse violence to ferrets might get banned? (Probably not ;-) People who occasionally get pissed of will not be banned. Please, avoid any mention of President C*****n, and don't use words like **** or *** or ****, and you'll be OK! <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> (Those last three words are k e w l - s u x - d e w d) |

It's sad that someone doesn't have the patience and creativity to create something unique and inspiring. However, if you want to look at it from a bright side, take it as a compliment, although this doesn't not make it right. |

Ah, one of the advantages of having so many people know who I am and what my sites look like! Hmm, maybe that could be why I get ripped this way too, eh? Two-edged sword and all that. In this particular case I was informed by Jann of http://www.RightsForArtists.com - (R.I.G.H.T.S., which is an online education program based on the illegal redistribution of intellectual property.) Jann is just one of the many folks who attempt to keep the net an honest place to be. Check out the site, it's a good place to start. |

Okay... I know I haven't earned my slime yet, but I will. My work is progressing nicely. I shall submit my new pages for review and comment in the near future. In the meantime, I do have a couple of ideas regarding the infamous Korean Connection. As I wish to join this family, I should consider it an honor to participate in the resolution of conflict born of the cultural differences between the creators and the appropriators. I believe the Korean businessmen are shrewd enough to periodically weigh the benefits of appropriating a well-designed presentation, against the time, energy, and inconvenience of what they experience as a result of their actions. Therefore I propose that a cumulative public outcry of indignation over such dishonorable practices will prove to be the most effective tool at our disposal. Putting aside the issues of right and wrong momentarily, the simple fact is that they have chosen the easy way out by appropriating the work of others. If the cost is too high, then it hardly takes a shrewd businessman to realize that a more profitable course of action would be to find an alternative resource. A combined effort on all our parts will minimize the hardship on an individual's effort to manifest the high cost via public condemnation and repetition. The astute Korean Connection is probably waitng to discover whether they face a single barking dog, or a nest of angry hornets. Personally, I would lock the dog in a room and go about my affairs. The hornets however, would have my undivided attention focused on a more peaceful existence. I hearby announce my intent to keep the buzz alive in my own special way. I hope it helps. Good luck to us all. |
