Word is that the final version of Netscape 6 won't support the **Layer** Tag...

This will be a huge headache for me as I rely on this tag extensively (as does Doc Ozone BTW!!!)

Now this really ticks me off! If NS is going to create a non-statndard tag, they owe it to we developers to support it down the road...

I've tried my page with NS6 PR1, and it just dosen't load...period.

Any ideas for work arounds? will this be a simple tag replacement, or will I need to recode all my DHTML?

not supporting the layer tag is GOOD
ns6 WILL(so they say) conform to the w3c specs which are already(most of them) in ie5
this will mean than i the near future it won't be necesarry to write different code for different browsers which will RULE
if you use pointers in your dhtml it will be very easy to update it, if not, a littlr bit more difficult

Yeah I have to agree with Chris, the Netscape 6 browser is supposed to comply with the w3c DOM which I don't think supports the Layer tag. Thats always been a netscape thing. Remember this isn't a true Netscape product it's an open source project so this is going to take a big swing away from Netscape specific implementations.

BTW I haven't checked a lot of his pages but I thought Doc uses the DIV tags mostly not Layer tags
