well i worked all day today on it and got this no text on it yet but i think it looks ok <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

the site is spilar dynamics.com thats why there is a spiral in the glass orb and i didnt like the rainbow colors but its someing they wanted so i put it on

First Thoughts:
I think the spiral is too rough.
I don't think the sphere looks properly embeded. - What I meant by this is the light is comming from top left, to bottom right, as shown by your drop shadow. So the black/white outline on the sphere embedding it should be the reverse, black on top left, white on bot right. You have the black on top right, white on bot left. But thats not a major thing, I wouldn't worry to much about it.
Other then that, it's quite nice. Nice cut-out look.

After Thoughts:
I think the whole thing is a little to flat.
I don't like the colors.
I think the Spiral would look nicer if it was placed inside the glass orb, not on top of it.
Thats all.

its alright I guess, not all that complex but the colors are pretty cool. you can add text and mouseovers so that when the cursor is over the image the button appears pushed in and then the center images changes ....

Not bad....I like the marble, and the etched lines are good (i think it would look better if the buttons curved to match the orb rather than having the straight lines though).

The sphere is far to flat and dull looking...the gradients are way to choppy. Like Dan said, there is the discrepancy of the light source - even if you don't directly observe it your eye is still thrown off a little.

I think the colors work fine, but your spiral is still very rough around the edges -- it just doesn't fit in at all.

As far as mouseovers, I think it would be cooler if the spiral spun and morphed kinda...just got wiggly ya know?

It has definate potential, but needs some refining I'd say. Keep at it!

thanks that helped so far ya i know the spiral need cleaning up but as for the orb how could i get it to look more rounded thats the best i could do i tryed the doc tutotal but i just couldnt do it i don't know why.ya i was going to put mouseovers on the links but im not sure yet how i am going to do the text for the links i was thinks a shiney metal maybe? What exactally do you mean "like a piece of stone"? Do you want it on a brick or in a shape of a ball? On a chipped plate? Tell me please, it would make it a lot easier on me then having me attempt to read your mind.

The texture by itself looks like stone, that what marble is, a rock.
Do you want it just like it is, except on a more 3d shaped interface?

sorry its kind of hard to explian i want it to look like the marble u see on tops on sinks but not sqaure ,rounded egdes hum thats the best i can explain it .

Do you mean like a rounded tile or a rounded rectangle? Thats a very easy thing to do to it. Just goto select>>modify>>smooth. Put whatever value you want to use up to 16.I think you would use 16 for that effect, hit OK, hit Ctrl Shift I and hit delete. Thats about it for a rounded rectangle. Sorry if thats not what you wanted, maybe you could be a little more specific...

Well you seem to have rounded corners, so I'll assume you want better beveled edges? More of a 3D effect? Won't get into any details 'cause not sure what you want still....all I can say is lighting effects, lighting effects, lighting effects! and read Doc's Texture Wrapping tutorial to apply the marble texture to it.
