Ya, allot of forums in general are like that. It's difficult to find a decent forum, and it's even more difficult to moderate one. Once you start to have problems with ppl doing that, it seems to attract other ppl like that. It's a sick cycle actually. I'm rambling now.....

My point- I hope your right and this forum stays as cool as it is now.

I had to add a post to that forum, I'm a registered ezboard member, it's my right! What a bunch of weasels, but also what a bunch of tight folks like us protecting their turf. Hopefully we won't be invaded by little arseholes, if so, hopefully we can educate them fast.

Yeah, personally I don't really like posting at Mark's forum. It never gets me anywhere. I once asked for imput to see if my website lined up properly and I was told that Im plain dumb for attempting anything without tables. I said I wanted to try something different and I was laugehd at <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/frown.gif"> sob sob anyway after about 4 pages I finally stopped asking for input because I realized it wasnt happening. I do find it funny to look at the Pixel Police section. I think the Asylum should have one of them. Its basically a Phong gallery. They should change the name to Anson Associates ... or not. But anyway I think Im going to post somethign there and voice my opinions .... <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

seriously though, this is the only message board i frequent on the internet anymore. i used to hit up a few music ones, a graffiti one, and some hardware ones... they all turn into a flame-fest though.

i think it's nice that we've got a dedicated group of nice people here that are really helpful. seriously, this message board has improved my coding and graphic abilities immensely. just the support, input, and ideas i'm able to get from you guys.. thank you so much!!

The Asylum, Bizark's Fourmum, and the one at deaddreamer.com are all good.
But there aren't many of them like it out there ...
I think the Pixel Police Station for the Asylum would be a **** idea! Th Station at DBM is basically just where you report someone ripping another designer off.

Yeah, the quality of this forum is amazing compared to almost any forum on any topic. I've never been much of a forum monkey, always seemed to be the hang-out for the latest group of negative-attention-seeking high-school rejects who really oughtta have something better to do.

Still, I wouldn't presume to say that I'm better than them or anyone else, just that I don't have time to waste on inane bullshit like that.

The Pixel Police is basically a collection of the greatest Phong rips. Its just a section where people post about people that have ripped off of there sites. Mainly its just people that ripped off of Phong, Mark, and Eyeball designs. It gets funny though. Like 2 weeks ago there was this guy Bian that ripped off of Mark and Pank real bad ... funny I guess, maybe not though.

not sure if this is really continuing the topic or not, but it sparked in interesting anecdote that I wish to contribute to this conversation...

Years ago, the ANSI scene was a wonderful thing. Artists all around the globe were playing with 80 colums and 24 rows to create works of art for BBS's--and it was fun. We had a community that, for some reason or another, the graphic design scene now completely lacks. Though here, in the Asylum, we are able to compensate and create the Asylum Graphic Design community, I wish there were something else...

So what I'm proposing is a site dedicated to all graphic designers (print/pixel, etc) to meet and have comraderie that we lack elsewhere in the scene...

I mean, skinners have a scene...
photomanips have a scene...
but graphic designers as a whole lack it, save for this board.

oh well. I'll start work on prelim design work and put it on www.th-inknet.com.

i think graphic designers lack the same comradare or scene that ansi pushers had way back in the day because... graphic designers do work for a large variety of things and have their own personal interests. 90% of ansi artists i knew were all doing it for the warez bbs scene pretty much, so they all had their crew and shit like that.

same thing with skiners (i'm assuming you mean for games like q3), they're all doing work for the same exact project pretty much.

what we do is so ambiguous, that the only thing we really have in common is we play with html and use photoshop (or whatever).

Wow, this would be a tough one for me, I got almost too much community in my life as is! I've got this board, plus a couple others I lurk in (non-design boards Malin turned me on to), plus we now have the shared website www.Gurusnetwork.com - plus I have 2 different coffee shops locally where I meet other folks in the industry, then there's the monthly Sun Microsystems "Pub", not to mention my new company and all the folks I meet there, and on top of this I got all the emails every day, sheesh! I'll stop by periodically, though.
