got Beta version here, the menu thingie will loaded as a layer , when mouse rollvoer that orange cylinder left to it will expand into the shape showing in the pic

I would stear away from layers if I were you. Some browseres have a real difficult time with them. As far as the mouseover effects, are they going to be done in javascript, DHTML, Flash, Shockwave? Just curious.
