Well Im not sure if Big Giant Penis Designs is taken but thats sure to attract a lot of attention. Seriously though, asking people about a name for your design company is not saying much about your creativity. You can always use Reve Designs or pick out certain words that has to do with design and look em up in the old thesaus(sp?) and go from there.

Well, you can call it anything you want, up to a point. Would you like to register this company and get a bank account for it and all? Now you can't have a name the same as others registered in your field. Sometimes it's only statewide, but for other types of companies and registrations it country wide or worldwide.

Go to http://tess.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe?f=tess&state=40t88v.1.1 and you will be able to search for your "name of choice" and see who else has it, and what they're doing with it. Dig around this site, it's a wealth of good information.

When searching for a name, you'll find lot's of folks who seemed to have registered very basic words, how can they do that? Answer, they can't finalize the registration, but they can register it until it gets shot down (takes about a year or so, heh.) So! You can't trademark the word "Micro", and you can't trademark the word "Soft", they're both in very common usage. But! If you could have done so, think of the lawsuits you could have, whee! You could probably trademark "SoftReveMicro", as a "reasonable" person would not confuse that with another company in the same industry, but you probably couldn't trademark "ReveMicrosoft". Read this site, it has lots of information for you.

A telling point. Had your name been "Dream", we might have recommended that you change it to "Reve". Don't you feel lucky? :-)
