I'm considering a design that would have the clients logo and name at the bottom right instead of top left. Can I get some opinions on this? If designed for 600x800 with no scrolling either way (780x390) and taken into acount for IE and NS's toolbars and vertical scroll bar, would it then be acceptable? Does anyone use 640x480 anymore? Is it just too risky to even be considered?

there's nothing wrong with playing with the layout, as long as the design asthetics are still solid.

while the logo and name at the bottom might be interesting, i have a feeling it could be rather difficult to pull off. if for no other reason that people habitually start at the top when they read and also expect certain things to be in certain places.

i personally have ignored the 640x480 screen resolution on the last 3 designs i've made... i found 750x550 is about the largest you're going to want your window to be, so that it'll still be usable in 800x600 resolution.

yeah, most marketing people's eyes would pop out if I even dared pose that question. The more I think about it the worse an idea it may be. The upper left is always going to be visible in the browser window no matter if it's tiled on the desktop or something strange like that.

Now if one of these scripting geniuses around here could make the page load backwards so you'd have scroll bars on the left and top...

I'm tired of the corporate brand in the upper left corner, crap.

I use 800x430 if i want maximum size and no scroll bar. My last couple siteds went very well with it and I had no complaints. the logo on the bottom would be bad, my marketing friend said he would leave the site immediately. He said if its not in there face the second they get there they automatically get confused and even if they find it they already have it in there mind that they will have to search endlessly to find what they are looking for.

Hmm, I've found that anything larger than 400 pixels tall or so is going to have problems on an 800x600 screen resolution. I did the new www.PrimalContent.com at 700x400, and the proportions make me happy, and it seems to work with all of the machines I've texted it on. YMMV, of course!

OH yeah, the taboo! I've got no problem with placing the log and such down in the lower left, if you're working with a fixed design size, and DHTML scrollers for big text, why not? Magazine ads get to do this thing, it works in print, why not here? Visually it should be OK.

hmmm, there may very well be people in here as old as I. I feel a wee bit better now. I knew I was in trouble when I made a Mr T reference and Jestah said, "who the hell is that?".

OK, Doc's new name is Mr D, as in "whatchu talkin bout Mr D?" or should that be Dr D?

Thanks mahjqa, I'm back to feeling a little older now. Is it just me or is there something wrong with the picture of a 16 year old Dutch kid watching syndicated reruns of Knight Rider? <shudder>

JK: Don't sweat. I watched Diff'rent Strokes, The Jeffersons, Facts of Life...etc. Not in reruns, but when they were actually on <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">

Your age is safely within reason.

Of course only compared to me ~lol~ BTW I pity the fool that don't know B.A. Barracas.

I don't feel so alone now. I too watched those shows in their original airings. Although, being a girl, The A-Team wasn't one of my favorites. Nor the Duke boys. Too much testosterone. Now, The Love Boat and Fantasy Island(the original one with Richardo and Herve). Those were the way to spend an evening! (eewww! But in my defense, that is all that was on!! And I wans't old enough to go to the bars, yet!)

God I am so old.

Boy: "Do you really want to hurt me?"
JKMabry: "yes, very much so."

I do not remember that at all?!?! If I can get the entire Sanford and Son collection on video why is the A-Team not available? Mr T probably fell in with Don King and they're holdin out for more cash.

I happened to be flipping through channels(bad habit picked up from my husband <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">, and saw the Boy George on the A-Team. But I had to switch real quick because my contacts started to melt to my eyeballs and the agony was just too much to bear. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/biggrin.gif">

Thanks JK. And usually the Flint Hills are very pretty, but since it has been so dry this summer, everything is just brown.
