Hey guys here's a tasty one for you to solve out! Check out this picture http://rocsport.com/images/pics/etusivu/nostot/cykelfestival_1.gif and let me know how to do that! You can also check out http://www.rocsport.com because the whole page is done using that kind of style. |

Ok, take your image and put it on your first layer. Take your airbrush and set it to dissolve and sprey over the sides of the image where the grey is on that image. That should give you the look your looking for. |

I'm no Photoshop expert so I don't know a great way to duplicate the effect, however I did notice something help full if you look at all the pictures on the page all the ones that are the same size (skater, deee hoota and the sunset one) are all the same in the border. I am assuming that like most big sites these guys have a set of standard image sizes. Then they probably just have a mask set up to create the border. |

All the images seemed posterized a little too, but that may just be an artifact of dropping them down to a limited number of colors. I tried it with a series of scan lines built into it, it worked OK. For me, I saved that black and white pixelated bit as a channel and used it as a transparency mask (using export gif89, not save as web) |

Even much more simple than that is to use a 2 layer document. Your bottom layer will be your image. (In my example I used the Ozone graphic located at the top of the screen) |

I'm sure Jestah meant what he said - spray gray with the airbrush set to dissolve. It works. Making the photo a layer above a gray background, making a feathered selection and deleting, then setting to dissolve works too. So many options!!! |
