OK, the UBB scripts have <font...this> and <font...that> tags all OVER the place! I did a huge series of search and replace eliminating all of them. I left the <font color=...> tags in place, they actually come in handy sometime, but it was the work aof a few weeks to purge all of the <font size> bits out. All of these tags tend to override the style sheets, a royal pain, but that's how it is. My version is *heavily* stepped on at this point, with many modifications and some features simply eliminated, but if you want to give it a try I'll share my butchered files with you, lemme know. |

Damn UBB! I just installed the freeware version on my site and man is it weak! I am going to stick with it though. I like the layout and feel of it more than other boards and since Hypermart dosen't allow SQL or ASP, I have rather limited options. |

I think there was talk about building one of those forums here. Generally people seem to stick those questions in the dHTML/JavaScript forums. I personally think we should have a forum for that but I dont know how many people use deal with cgi/asp/php. I know I dont although I really should. Bah, Im sure the Doc has a good reason why we dont have one of those forums. |

If you knew Perl and had a lot of patience, would it be possible to take the freeware version of UBB and manually edit it to have the features you want? |

Yeah I regulary visit UBBHackers but its surprising how little they talk about CSS other than "UBB supports them". Hey Doc, thanks for the insight and yes, I'd be very much in your debt if you did indeed share those files with me <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> As far as message boards go, while $200 US is a bit steep for CGI code these days, the boards are really about the best you can get out there. Just consider it an investment in your design future. |

I think you may be better off finding another board as opposed to hacking the demo UBB. |

Welp, I did it. I found the best free Forum on the web. It has a good UBB feel and is easy to customize. |

Yeah, there are some cool UBB hacking sites out there. I've spent countless hours hacking that program. There's a cool little utility called AllHack that does some automated hacking on UBB. I used it a little when I was setting up the forums at gurusnetwork.com and defensivetactics.com. It's a little on steep side as far as price, but the layout and administration is cool, and the open source makes adding more features very popular. |
