Well .....actually.. I dont really..... *but* at my new place of work I have discovered they have 3 Macs stashed away that I can use when I am not busy (????.. lol), so I am sorely tempted to park my buns down at one of them and get stuck in.. (specially cos they are loaded up with PS, Illust, Quark, Bryce and all sorts of goodies heh)... *drools*

OK.. so heres the boring question... can anyone suggest some major Mac, sites that would be a good starting point for reference etc... obviously Apple, but I am thinking maybe just one or two of you fine fellows/ladies might recommend some exellent resources?.... I have played a bit alreay on it, and the OS is a tad different to good ole Billy Bob Gates's one....

any and all help is appreciated .... shanks

~Vp~

edit: oh ya! I fired up Bryce and it kinda took over the screen (much like a DOS game does in windows) and I couldnt figure out how to exit the prog... is there like an escape hot key or similar?.. ya should have seen me sneak off unoticed when I realised I couldnt close the darn prog! lol...

Hey VP you will love the Macs once you play around with
them a bit more...very intuitive.
Of course like any machine there are always glitches.
The Help files that are part of the System is a good
place to start.

A Mac site that is mainly geared toward troubleshooting hardware
and software plus reviews is http://www.macfixit.com/
will come up with some more links for you later...

Interview with Kai Krause:
http://www.theatlantic.com/unbound/digicult/dc9704/krause.htm

As far as Bryce goes the menu bar is usually not visible until you move your mouse over it ...it's at the top of the window so just move your
cursor up to the very top and you will see the menu bar.
Kai Krause (sp) who designed the interface (I think) is notorious for
making the user explore with the mouse...
He IS the original PS Guru by the way IMHO

Maybe www.macworld.com? Sheesh, I use one all day every day and can't think of any good basic skills websites. Hmmm .. will have to think a bit.

BTW - command (the key with the apple logo on it)+q is the universal mac keyboard equivalent for "quit" (which I believe is called "exit" in your PC world). So when you get into those jams (often the case with demos in computer stores too), command+q terminates a program.

You go VP! I like mine a lot. We got our first PC at work and I'm trying to grok the foreigness of it. Not impossible, but the differences are a bit disorienting. Really wierd thing for me is the control (eqiv. to command for me) being on the left of the alt key (equiv to option for me) - my fingers are too used to it being on the right, next to the space bar! And fyi - if you're wondering how we survive without a right mouse button, most modern Mac apps provide contextual pop-ups by holding down the control key while clicking.

Use the Option key often. It is very useful.

VP... did a bit of poking around for some basic info
on using a Mac, and found this site.
maybe too basic? http://www.monroe.k12.la.us/mcs/training/macbasics/

One more...better... http://www.essentialmac.com/
Hope it helps some...have fun!

Steve, I am on my Mac every day too ... PowerMac 9500/200 with 384megs
of ram. just love it!
One of my great escape key combos is Option+Command+ esc, on those rare
occasions that I have to "force" an application to quit.
Similar to control+alt+delete on a PC to end task I think?
Don't know if anyone here who uses a Mac visits Macfixit, but there is a
wealth of info at that site...very useful info on keeping your Mac lean and mean!
