Wakkos, I currently don't have enough spare time to write tutorials, but that logo is basically the same as my sig with added scanlines...

Butcher, I'll leave that to you to decide, heh

Boudga, that's an old Connectix Color QuickCam 2.0 (QuickCam is Logitech's product now).

I'm going to have to do a re-write of my rotating cam script and customize it for the forum here, so we can go to one place and scroll through all the cams available here! How many folks here now have cams running? A show of hands will do, with a link. I'll collect all the pointers to the images, and then make one big slideshow where you can "change channels", heh. It'll be a *feature*.

I keep changing the placement of the thing. Thanks for taking a look

Cool job on Max TV, Mr.Max! Some of my friends can't believe that anyone would *want* to broadcast themselves over the internet. It freaks out their sense of privacy. You should have seen the look my wife gave me when I mentioned the idea of having several cams around the house like the Doc has... I guess that isn't going to happen anytime soon

Netmosis, take a look again at the MAX TV, I've prepared a surprise for you...

Doc, that's a very interesting idea! Any hint when it'll be finished?

Bugimus, I'm glad that you like MAX TV! Anyway, I saw your cam a couple of weeks ago (following the link from your main page) and I noticed the following - sometimes when your cam page refresehes I can see a corrupted image; It seems that your software, which does the uploading overwrites the current image on the server, instead of uploading it using a different name and after that renaming it back to the original name in order to insure that complete file got transfered.

Mr.Max, thanks for the advice. Is that why it gets corrupted? I've been having that trouble with other files too. I even have had corrupted transfers from files that are new to the server. I fear I might have more of a problem going on here.

What software do you use to upload your images?

Mr. Max, I checked my software, webcam32, and it is deleting the old file before uploading the next. I've got a problem here, OH WAIT! I think I know what it is. I have been having some other trouble with my network lately and I bet you anything my network card is going bad. It all makes sense now. I'll have to do some troubleshooting. If you have any other ideas as to what could be causing this, please let me know.

Hmm, it could be a problem with network card, but it looks to me like the new images are simply overwritten over the old one (on corrupted images you can see the old and the new part of the image starting from top to bottom), so either something's wrong with webcam32 or with your FTP server. If there was a problem with your network card I doubt that file would be transfered at all...

Make sure you tweak webcam32 so it uses a temp file, this way it'll upload the new file with a temp name, and the only delay is in the re-naming, chances of someone trying to download it during that brief gap is small. Still, you'll always get a corrupted image evey now and then, it's an unavoidable issue. I've been busy this weekend on another project, but I think I'll put together a cam template for us this week sometime, I like having lots of cams to play with. Funny thing with the cams and wives etc... I've got a few friends who got cams, and ran into the same issue. Don't worry, have fun with it, set up little dioramas, enjoy, they'll get jealous and want their own! It's happened before. Addicting little things, those cams.

Well, I'm not sure I'm out of the woods yet but I haven't noticed any more corrupted images from my cam. I replace a suspicious network card and possibly bad cables. I really can't be sure what was wrong but it sure looks like whatever I did helped. Thanks for the help in narrowing down my problem.
