Well, everyone has a site they saw for the first time that inspired them in some way. For most of us, Ozones.com was one of them. It was for me! Another site that did that was gabocorp.com. They suddenly went away one day and have been down for ages. I keep going back because Gabo Mendoza says there are just a lot of delays. And today, he throws me a bone. A "trailer" for his next site (heh). Well, it's amazing. Check it out: http://www.gabocorp.com

any site that explicity denies me access unless I download an application can go stuff it!

sorry! I am sensitive about being told how to behave!

I am sure it is very impressive...

Yes he does some amazing things.
I'm guessing there will be some fantastic 3D vector
creations when he's back up.

From what I heard he was so overwhelmed with the number
of requests for new projects, he just shut the site down
for a while to catch up.

The thing of it is, I've seen Gabo's stuff, and it's *always* cool, but I've seen like 3 versions, all with limited content, spaced out over *years*. Somehow I don't picture a team of gabo designers, but one poor gabo suffering major freak-out each time the fan letters roll in, suffering nervous breakdowns, etc... Has anyone ever seen anything commercial that he's done? I feel for the guy, and hope all is well with him, but the lack of quantity seems odd to me. He seems like a nice guy, shame he doesn't show up here on the forum sometime, I'll bet he needs some weird friends like us.

[postscript] OK, I dropped him a note, invited him to the Asylum, and suggested he use an alias if he's shy. We'lll see, hope he's doing well, he's such a quiet guy, I worry sometimes.

i agree doc. i cant seem to picture a bunch of "gabo's" plugging away to get this site up. if gabo is indeed swamped with work i feel for them-him...? i have never seen anything commercial that they-he? has done, has anybody?? I am curious as well. I do hope that he decides to stop by if he has the time.....

i see it as a bunch of programmers from macromedia with their spare time putting together a facade of a flash development company. no, gabo doesn't exist. it's just a playground for programmers that have a little too much fun with their jobs.

Wow, I like that a lot.
There are a couple of flaws with the information presentation, (fading out at the sides and stuff). But the intro is very nice, especially the music that goes along with the site.

Twitch does what you say have any real grounding, or simply ass speak? Seeing as it is Gabo Mendoza who is said to do the graphics and Javier Padial who works the music.

I would have to agree with twitch^ on this one, it's been rumored ever since the gabo site came out. Besides, I've seen a lot of flash, and what shows up on the gabo site is next to god-like compared to the rest of it. I doubt some joe shmoe is out there making amazing works like this just because he's got time to rtfm and play around. If it were really a two man job, putting out flash of this quality, they would have a site with real content. And if he were as busy as he says he is, don't you think he would have the money to have someone else build him a site?

Ya, it's a facade. I was also turned onto flash by gabocorp, but alas, I've come to accept the fact that it will never be more than it is.

What would the fun be in having someone else make a site for you?

The domain name is registered to someone in... here i'll just post it for you. Are there examples of his other work? The trailer is very well done, but doesn't seem to be anything god-like in technical skill. I'm more used to after effects then flash though...

Nah, I don't buy that about macromedia, I remember when it first launched, he thought he'd land a little work and became an overnight celebrity, overwhelmed with offers. Then he went down, having a note saying that he had contracts and please don't write him anymore. The timeframe from then until he re-launched, again he had a commercial "hire me" site. I felt he read as a real person who just got hooked on flash early.

I'm with Doc on this one.
All that talent and only 20 years old too!
Some articles have him pegged at 16?
