You sass that hoopy Douglas Adams? Now there's a frood who knew where his towel was. You are invited to join your fellow hitchhikers in mourning the loss of the late great one. Join in on towel day to show your appreciation for the humor and insight that Douglas Adams brought to all our lives.

What do I do?

Carry your towel with you throughout the day to show your participation and mourning.

When do I do it?

May 25th, 2001

Where do I do it?

Everywhere.

Why a towel?

I'm with you Doc. I've got just the towel in mind. It's a black number that's somber and very manly.

Yours in solidarity. I'm up for towel day.

Everyone here seems to know the Hitchhiker books pretty well. Anyone get into Dirk Gently, Holistic Detective? I loved those. I got a sofa stuck in a stair well once too

What a loss. And he was a Mac advocate too!

I found out on /. the day after. The next day I saw something on the net about carrying a towel around. I'll have mine tomorrow.

I have always intended to get around to reading Douglas Adams' work. I'm sure I will love it. So I will carry my towel tomorrow as a "pre" thank you to his memory.

So Friday is over. I think maybe I stimulated some interest in Adams among my coworkers. Or maybe I misread their reations
Carried mine all day. Used it to wipe away a tear or two. I admit, I *was* a bit selfconscious as I stood in front of the graduating class of NE School of Law taking their group photo, but what the hell - by the time they pass the bar they won't remember me.

Best moment - daughter #1, the high school senior: "You are *such* a geek!" Ah, it was great (I accepted it from her 'cause she's read all the books!). Krets - makes me wonder what she'll write about her parents in her blog some day

docilebob: yep, I got it out of the stairwell, but never did get it where it was intended to go. Growing mold in the garage now!

I've invested my penny towards dinner at the Restaurant at the End.....

(odd - we haven't heard from the one named for the vogons yet...)

Damnit!

I didn't know about the towel day... I certainly would've taken my towel with me... Well, maybe some other day this week.

It was a sad sad day indeed when I read about the passing away of Douglas Adams. It's a great loss and he will be greatly missed...
