I am all for open source, but, I think that games need to be close source. |

I like Open Source, the concept is totally rocking, and it's not always exactly what people think it is. Open Source does not mean public domain, the original author still owns the original and primal version. Anyone anywhere can take it apart and do all sorts of crazy things to it. If you do something truly special to it, you send the mods back to the author and they get incorporated into the next release. This can really really work, it's been the lynchpin of the whole Unix world. |

I have nothing against releasing all of the engines. I think releasing the engines would be a wonderful idea. But I do believe that releasing the game secrets could be a bad thing. |

I prefer Rogue Spear ... I've always perfered 3D FPS games where you're not confined to small spaces, large open spaces kick ass IMO. But i liked Unreal better for it's AI |

UT has some big open maps! You're right, they're a blast. Hall of Giants comes to mind.. and Lava Giant, those are a couple of my regular stops. The thing about big maps in UT is they tend to become sniper fests so planning on spending some time might be a good idea, especially on-line.. people tend to be somewhat smarter than the bots. |

Yeah good point, sound is really important but I already know Java can handle sound, I plaved arounds with applets back in 99 and they could then. |

"YOU MUST HAVE GL4J installed before using this. Otherwise, it could crash. It is a slightly modified version of an Applet released by Anfy3d makers. http://www7.ewebcity.com/brundlefly/envmap_hw.html" |
