Does anyone remember anything about the maximum number of keyboard buttons windows will register at any one time? Or if there even is a maximum?

I think three or four is the maximum, but I'm not sure.

im not sure too, but i always thought its six! in some action games, you have to hit more than four keys at one time!

You know how if you hold a key down, it repeats? My keyboard seems to do that with multiple keys, for example: jkjkjkjkjkjkjkjkjk <- that was done with keyboard repeating. The hightest i've ever managed to get was six, I think.

adfghsadfghsadfghsadfghsadfghsadfghsadfghs <- look! I did it again!

Yeah, it's weird, it's an HP keyboard with an HP machine ("Pavilion"), win '98. It can be fun to hold the up and down arrow keys for a while so the web page scrolls up and down really fast. =)

I'm fiarly sure the restriction is based on how a keyboard is structred. I've taken my keyboard appart many times (I get bored often) and the whole thing is divided into groups. One groupe usually consists of x ammount of keys and you possibly can't have more than x ammount from the one groupe regersering as being presses at the same time.

Another limitation be come into play with the connector type of your keyboard. As a serial keyboard connection will only be able to transmit x ammount of data at once. A Mini-Din (PS2) will be able to transmit more and a USB keyboard will be able to transmit even more. I remember I lucked out with an old serial K/B at three keys when playing quake and Halflife! But only when I was trying to use a certain three keys (w + Ctrl + Alt I thnik) But other times on the same keyboard I could use six at a time no worries...

Then again, I could be completly wrong and this could be a software limitation of some sort. And Unix quake of Unreal players here come accross the same problem??

Thanks Drac, that really helped. The game I'm playing is Tony Hawk 2 and the buttons sometime involve pressing spacebar-numpad1-uparrow-rightarrow-c at the same time. On my other computer, I can do it no problem, but on this one I can't. I have to let go of some buttons in order for it to register. I'm thinking the problem is that this one has a cheap keyboard and the other one has a better one.

Is there a keyboard you'd recommend for me?

Yeah, grumble. I got it from my gf for Christmas and I'm still playing it. It's the only game where I actually try to get everything (beat with all players). It's especially cool getting used to a new skater's style. The coolest thing would be playing spiderman though. I love his web slinging specials.
