Was wanting to see if anyone could tell me about this hardware. We are using it from a friend and would like to know what you think about it. I have ZoneAlarm and it works just fine but, was wanting to know more about this router from those who uses it. |

Hey Allgood! Malin and I have the smaller unit, the DI-701, and it works pretty good. If you *do* get a hacking attempt, it will respond by simply overloading and freezing, that's listed as a "feature", believe it or not, heh. We use ours mainly for the NAT function, to connect many computers through one cable connection, and as such we like it a lot. You have to open the ports allowing outside access one by one, and you can then direct them to an internal IP#, so (aside from those ports) it's pretty hard to crack, it's just too stupid to allow any heavy hacking! Low tech is good sometimes. We're considering the DI-713P next, it'll handle 10/100Mbit, and has a wireless port for the laptop, that'll be neat. All in all it gets good grades from us. |

Great to know that Doc...I was thinking of keeping it. A friend let us use it to see if we would like it or not. So far I like it. Still have to figure out the how to stuff...hahahahah Also read about the pros and cons on sites that write about D-Link and it says that it is well worth it. Again thanks doc. |
