I am interested in joining a professional webdesign/development related association. It will give me an opportunity to network and look good on the resume. Anyworth while assoc. out there?

Well, I'm not going to be very helpful because I've always avoided professional organizations. I think I'm too individualistic to want to join them. If I were a potential employer (this is just me) I would not see your membership as a plus.

I want people to know that I do good work for them. They can only know that by judging my work and nothing else.

The key to your post is getting that first job or convincing someone that you can produce the results they're looking for. I understand this and I suppose that is the only reason I could even consider joining such a thing.

Associations like the one we have here and the one at GurusNetwork impress me more because it is clearly made up of people who have a passion for what they do.
