I have tried 3 different times to download NN6 for the netscape site. Each time I tried to run it, I got an illegal operation shutdown warning. Then I went to Netscapes help section, and it said to do a full download and then install. 30 MBs later, I install it again, and guess what.... illegal operation shutdown warning.

Has anyone else had problems with this, and if so, what did you do to fix them?

Thanks in advance

Yes, I had the exact same problem and started calling it Shitscape 6 just like mr.maX does!!! It really is a crime what they've done to that great name.

Anyway, use Mozilla instead. That works much better, and it's what Nets... excuse me, Shitscape 6 is based on. Download their latest milestone release 0.9.1 and you should have much better luck.

Thanks Bugs

The only reason I'm trying to download NN6 is to test my pages. Recently, Linear went to one of my pages in NN6, and he said it crashed his OS. So I need to start testing in it.

Will Mozilla react to code the same way that NN6 does?

NN6 is based on Mozilla code, so it is *THE SAME* thing (excpet, that it isn't bloated with all that Shitscape's shit)...

Thanks Guys

Mozilla installed no problem, and the download was about 20 MBs smaller than NN6

Oh and Linear

You were right, I changed the show/hide javascript code using one Mr.maX was kind enough to supply me with, and the page doesn't crash anything, but the nav applet doesn't load at all. I guess I'm going to have to learn to code a dhtml expanding nav like you suggested to fit in the same place.

Oh well.... see ya'll in the Javascript forum soon.

Mozilla doesn't come with Java support. You have to download it separately, but it's a one-time download... ftp://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape6/english/6.0/windows/win32/smartupdate/jre.xpi

I already have that on my machine, will Mozilla use that, or do I have to download theirs?

If you have that file (jre.xpi) on your hard drive, try to open it in Mozilla. It should install it automatically...
