OK I'll admit it, I'm a real moron. For some reason I can't set up mail??

I'm using Dreamhost as my provider, and I downloaded Eudora as my mail server.

Can somneone explain, in painfully slow steps, what exactly I need to do to set up mail so a visitor can send mail to my domain suffix?

Remember, I've tried this before, and for some reason, it escapes me how to do it. So if you could post the "for dummies" method, I'd appreciate it!

I don't use Eudora so these steps are fairly general.

First have you set up a mail accound using the dreamhost control panel?

click on the Mail tab and set up a mailbox for yourself.

The second thing you need is the name of your mail servers (Eudora is your client not your server). Looking at the account at dreamhost that I manage this should be mail.www.yourdomain.com for both your POP3 incoming server and your SMTP outgoing server

Now this is where I can't be specific since I don't use Eudora. but here's the general gist.
There should be a mail account setup. in some order it should ask you for the following things

Display name: What people see as you name when you send them mail. this can be anything
mail Address: (optional this is the address you set up at dreamhost you@www.yourdomain.com)
POP3/IMAP incoming mail server: Trickiest part (and this is easy) I'm assuming that dreamhost uses a POP3 server so select that. The name of the server should be mail.www.yourdomain.com

SMTP outgoing server: Same as above.
User name: you will get this after you submit the form at dreamhost it looks kinda random something like m3915555

Password : this is the password you set up at dreamhost.

Thats about it.

Dreamhost is layed out like dis:

SMTP server is your isp SMTP server (mail.isp.com) they do not provide an SMTP server, just a mailbox, POP3.
POP3 is mail.yourdomain.com
Your username may well be a cryptic number, check the control panel as Bitdamaged describes, and your password is the one for the mail account you set up (may be your 'user' account's pw if you haven't formally set up any mailboxes yet)
