when writing a style sheet in Notepad, how the heck do you save it as ".css" instead of ".txt" ???

Do you need to convert it somehow??

File > Save As...

whatever.css

Thats it, just add .css at the end.

If you haven't already done this... go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View and uncheck "hide file extensions for known file types"

this will show a file extension for every-single-solitary file that runs across your screen, helps to decrease your virus paranoia and can help you when saving files in something other than the apps' native file extension.

both are good, "save as..." and disable the "hide ext. fro known file types"...

as I never myself tried notepad with css, cant there be a problem with /n's and
other linefeeds that windoze applications tends to use?

like coding .c in M$ Word, and not saving in the right format?

(I like UltraEdit as a notepad like editor)

Yay, UltraEdit rules!

but the easiest notepad workaround is double-quoting the filename: "foo.css"

If you FTP in ASCII mode, the line feed conversion is handled by FTP.

Using notepad and when saving file make sure you choose:

Save as Type: All files (*.*)

if it wasn't like that your file will be saved like filename.css.txt

what's the problem with notepad? i think if it opens a wordpad file it has those boxes, and if it opens a gedit(linux notepad) file it has those boxes.
