I just tried to install 2000b and before it opened the first time, it performed an illegal operation, and was shut down. Tried re-installing it to the other drive.. same thing.
Is there somewhere I can get a non beta version ?

afaik there is no non-beta version of icq. and as mirabilis doesnt get paid for it, it seems as there will never be one.

Actually I think the thing with the beta is that as long as it is a "beta" product Mirabalis( aol ) can take a hands off approach to supporting it.

If it hoses your computer it's not their fault, it's just a beta.

This thing has been long enough and had enough development to go gold a long time ago.

It's pretty much always been a beta. I'm running the latest version on Windows 2000 SP2 and don't have any problems. In fact, I don't really recall having problems with ICQ before. It's one of the few apps that people can say that about!

OK, well, la'dsasha, if you can get me a copy, that`d be cool.

If not, I`ll try downloading 2000b again.

I`ve got friends that use lots of different chat clients, and
I found a chat client called Trillian that supports AIM, MSN, Yahoo, IRC, ICQ, file sharing, etc.
Just wanted to see if it works.

Thanks, all.

icq99a

icq99b

i use 99a which is the last version (i think) that allowed you to export your address book, but only 99b and up can use the icq plugins.

i installed 99b and got another error message, so I must have something screwed up somewhere else.

Invalid page fault at MFC42.dll ( ?)

Thanks anyway.

sounds like you should reinstall windows. my boyfriend says that dll is a part of the Microsoft Foundation Class, which c/c++ programs are built on.
