Hmm, not many sites here that I loved, but a few, a few. Livejournal and Blogger are slugging it out for the top spot in the "personal sites" category, I wrote in Livejournal (they're not on the list), and they're just barely in the #1 spot. Too bad I didn't notice this earlier, we could have started a write-in campaign for the Asylum in the "communites" section! Ah well, these things are probably all fixed anyway, but it was fun to check out.

There are so many internet companies that toil with no chance of monetary success, but for their own sense of worth.

Maybe we should post here who WE would nominate?

Just for shits && giggles, *I* nominate: Card Commerce International under the category of e-commerce.

Why?
1. Cheap Internet based credit card payments to the masses ($0.10 per authorization)

2. Automated sign-up.

3. Fraud Risk assessment per transaction.

4. I designed and built the system. Yes, they're still in business. Surprised? :-)

I like the look and feel, it's sharp. I was a bit dissapointed the side navigation went away after the first click, I liked that look. You are right though, we *do* need our own webbies, the official one has gotten so damned commercial, scary.

Hey Doc...
The real strength of the company isn't their web site, but their Internet based
backend payment solutions -
The guy who did the site also did this site, which is kinda cool (i think).
