Preserved Topic: [dis]contempt+[.org]: the diluted dreamers project. (Page 1 of 1)

Ok, now that I've got my new site, [dis]contempt+[.org], up and running with its currently running projects I figure I want to open more and more projects as they come to mind. So, on the way home tonight my mind is dancing with a combination of A Perfect Circle lyrics which are just beautiful poetry in of themselves and images that could be related to the words. That's just how my mind works I guess. The problem with me running this new site just among my friends, the ones I know in person, is that none of them are really accomplished or even mediocre designers. However, they are almost all awesome writers. What's great about the Asylum is that many are both great graphic designers and are great with words as well. We even have many who profess to be poets among our midst. Technically this new project, dubbed "the diluted dreamers project" for now, until a better title comes along, is for anyone but I thought what a better place than here to get some participants. A more fitting one at least. Well anyway here's my proposal.

Pick a partner. One of you writes a poem, or anything of the likes as long as it is open for interpretation. The other takes the poem/whatever and creates a 400x500 px 72dpi jpg out of anything he/she interprets from the words. Simple. Then the final project gets posted on my site along with all the others and both artists get credited however they like, link back, email, anonymous, just name, whatever. Enter as many pieces as you like, it will be an ongoing project, no deadline, I'll try and have the pages up and at least one piece of me and a friend done soon. I just hope this project doesn't flop. Maybe i should be more prepared before i send this off. whatever, fuck it. Thanks beforehand if you do decide to enter peices.

Man, that's a great idea. Bit different, and, well, im too lazy to get off mi ass and do something like it for no good reason,.... so now there is one, count me in =)

Hey do you have a FAQ or something planned? Gor a couple ??'s for ya.
Anyways good stuff NM, lookin forward to it.

Now for a pardner, ....someone,.... clever, witty,... wise, have a way with words, easy going... serious, but too much fun, someone with seriously deep vision and undertanding....oh i know!

Great. This is cool. Weadah, I'll try and have the pages up by the end of the week, maybe even thursday, with the official rules and as far as any specific questions go ask 'em here or on the formail i plan to hook up to the pages for questions and I'll be sure to answer then. Anyway. I'm going to tend to be really loose on the rules so if you really get desperate you can use yourself as a partner, but otherwise I've got plenty of friends I can hook anyone up with who needs poetry which would be even better since you don't know them. Docilebob. If you are ready to start I could hook you up right away or just give you a poem.

Anyway the title evolved: the diluted dreamers clinic. still not happy with it though. Thanks a lot. This should be fun and I've got plenty more similar projects on the way.

I'd like to be able to show the pieces off side by side with the poetry/whatever but at 400x500 and keeping it an 800x600 friendly site showing both simultaneously might not happen. Either that or I shrink the graphic.
