I just started back in college, and I need to connect through a T1 Server.
I setup all the network stuff and pluged in my Ethernet Card. I have the same settings as all other students, But I can't use the internet. I do have access to the Network resources under my network places. I talked to the tech people at the college that handle the servers and stuff. But they have no Idea what's wrong? one guy told me it might be a problem in my win Sock file or somthing like that? or mabye A system registery error or missing string file. or even a DNS problem?

I have no idea and know nothing about this type of problem.

If any of you think you can help I will love you forever, I can't afford to take it to a repair shop... after all.. I am a "college student" and most of us are poor...

Thanks in advance guys and girls..

EDIT- Oh, i am using a friends computer to write this, i can't on mine..

you don't go to southeastern college do you

Anyways...
Can you view the network folders under the network places?
you might need to check your proxy settings or re-install windows to get your system registery files back, be sure when you get it all done that you right click on the folder and go under file sharing to put it on the network. on win2k you should have network wizard to set up a folder that you can put all your shared files into

onew more thing....are you trying to connect to the internet or the network, or possibly both? to get to the internet would strongly suggest checking the proxy settings and making sure your card is installed right, sometimes college's like mine require for you to log-on to the t1 server by going under your windows log-on and chaning it to "microsoft client" it just like having a windows log-on ,but it will log you on to the t1 server instead

thanks dark, but that's not what I need, I can access the network and all of the resources but I can not use the internet through their network as all the other students can. my system restore is not working, it says I must restart every time I click on it.
so I restart and it says I must restart before I can use it. I was not given a reinstall disk when I bought my computer. So I have no way to re run my system that I know of, I am running windows ME. but I would rather go back to win98, as it was a lot better...

I think it's a problem in the win sock file or a registery error.. any Ideas for me?
