does anyone have any recommendations as to what java book to get. i'm taking independant study Java in my school and my teacher and i are unsure which book to get. thanks

I don't know if one exists (I'm sure it does). But I hear that O'Reilly publishes the best books on HTML and such. I'll look for one for ya.

Ok I'm not sure what level you're looking for, but maybe this would be a good one for ya.

Haha, this is my fortee, giving out advise on Java Books.

There are just tons to work with.

My First Java Book to have worked with:
Java: An Introduction to Computer Science and Programming, Second Edition
by Walter Savitch ( Prentice Hall, 2001).

Data Structures and Other Objects Using Java by Michael Main ISBN 0-201-35744-5, Softcover, 800 pages, 1999.

Java: How to Program by Deitel & Deitel, Prentice Hall (Third Edition)

Teach Yourself Java 2 Platform . by Laura Lemay and Rogers Cadenhead, Sams Publishing.
