Ok heres the deal, I have a customer who owns a real estate company. He is runnign a cable line right now and is using a cable splitter to split the line 4 ways. The problem is he wants to have 11 more machines added to the system. The catch is he is looking for a way to put computers at each agents desk that only connects to the internet. I have heard of those machines that only connect to the internet but could they be networked into a system? does anybody have any suggestions for a good way of going about this?

If my explanation is not clear enough let me know.

Thanks.

Here's the deal. It's not so much the cable lines. You should be able to run all 11 off of one cable modem though you may want to get another.

You need to get seperate IP's for each Internet Appliance or computer whatever is being used. The provider may provide a certain amount if you can't get enough you could set up a box as a proxy server so the other machines can access off of the one IP

I don't know what is accessible for configuration if you use the appliances. You may want to just use NT and lock the damn things down so they can't use anything but a browser.

Make one box Win2000 turn on internet sharing. Plug the cable modem into a hub or splitter and plug all computers into he hub or splitter. The 2000 box wil give all the computers fake IP'S and they can use the internet. Why he is usinga cable line for all these computers is beyond me.
