i was sitting in a meeting the other day and some guy was illustrating with his hands how we could do something with profit margins.. and all i could see was the semi circle he was drawing in the air, and all i could think about was how i could guassian blur that sucker into a sphere shape, then maybe lens flare it into glass ..

then my niece came over home with one of those soapy water bubble-blower things and i practically went into a daze trying to figure out in my head how to take the 'weight' out of a glass sphere image so that it looks like it's floating in the air ... invert it? add prism colours? take some of the black out...?

then today at lunch my friend had to snap me out of my daydream cause i was wondering how many shades of green i'd need to create an image with the texture of broccolli ... and why it is that so many so-called professional webmasters, whose pages i've surfed lately, still haven't learned to preload their images ... and when it is i'll have a spare moment this week to explore flash and visual basics ...

hhhmmmm....

you think maybe i'm spending a little too much time here ..?

Ooh, LaSun, I'd be *extremely* worried if I was you! Everyone I've known who has experienced these symptoms has ended up as a "web designer" of sorts, some of them even went so far as to quit their jobs and go study art and/or programming! For what it's worth, that sounds like the kind of thoughts that go through my head all the time, I'm especially pleased to hear about the "soap bubble incedent", actually looking at soap bubbles is probably the best way to know how to re-create them, seems to me! (Funny how this thought eludes so many people, heh.) So! I'd say you have cause for concern, but the syndrome is not fatal as long as you try and remember to look both ways before entering traffic, one of the primary dangers to many of the dreamers out there. In my experience, a close analysis of what we see in our daily life can be kind of interesting, more people should do it!

It's actually a sign that you are entering a more advanced state of creativity! Your mind is "teaching" you what it knows you want to know. When you start dreaming about it too, and can't stop, then you're entering the final stages of complete lunacy called "web designer".

And where's the party Shi?

Yup. It's definite. You've contracted APSS (adobe photoshop syndrome). This yet-to-be acknowleged sickness causes a person to see the world through levels and channels. As the sickness progresses, you'll start seeing everything as forms, 256 colors, possible filter effects (did I say filters? Black pill, please!), channels, text fonts, etc. Personally, I like this sickness, and wish it was contagious (would make it much easier to 'convince' many of my clients why something has to be done this or that way!). Welcome to the loonie bin! Advanced forms of this sickness can be seen (among others) in Doc O and Weadah, to name a few.

Party!?! Don't tell the Krotchmonkey clones!

Nah I was just hoping *someone* would recognize the image as my entry for one of the early early Make It Repeat Performance threads.

For anyone interested in *other* digitally altered versions (there were some real good ones too), dig up the archives...

It's a good picture, but I think the sign on the fence would be better served by being a bit more out of the way so we can see the A in NIPA, and also saying 'Tresspassers will be pixelated'

Ooohhh...lawnmover man
