Just tried to get the pictures from a digital camera into a computer today (nikon 880). So installed the program, ran it (after connecting the camera via USB). Kept getting a connection failure report. So after ad infinitum finally found out that there was no driver. After looking for it in the software (a bunch of cd-roms), finally found out that it wasn't there, either. So I finally found the driver in the internet, downloaded it, unzipped it, but then, couldn't get the damn computer to find the driver! Finally gave up in disgust!!! Gonna get another camera, one that works with 3 1/2 diskettes. Used one before, works great. Any ideas, or comments? Anyone have any similar experiences (or am I just to dumb to get it to work?). Would love to know, especially how I could have gotten it to work.

Not sure if it's the same with 'all' USB stuff but usually you have to go through specific steps to connect the device.
Can't just plug them in. Recently installed a printer with usb (not mine)...after connecting...had to put the cd in the bay...turn off the computer...then start again. After that everything was automatic.

As for the Digital Cam... I'm using a friends Kodak... couple of years old... top of the line new...not the best...certainly not the worst. Problem I'm now having is that I recently rebuilt the computer... new everything and now there's a conflict somewhere and for the life of me I can't find it...and it's really pissin' me off. Maybe not all bad as I was snapping shots of anything that moved...or not.

Owning and using a digital cam requires a certain amount of discipline... or a VERY big HD.

Hope you get it sorted out.

Nope. Didn't get it sorted out. Gonna get a different camera. One where I don't have to connect it to the computer. And i thought Linox was complicated, sheesh!
