Oh, how I wish my website were up and running. I will add this as soon as I do get it online, since Google bombs have a tendency to degrade over time (or at least that's what I've heard)--that way I can help keep the Asylum at the top, if it ever gets there. |

Page 10 or 11 is really irrelevant right now. I think it depends on the server you are hitting at the moment. Updates don't come so fast. We will have to wait a month or two to see results. |

does linking the asylum in a weblog count? cos i could do that everyday. i'm too lazy to add it to all my websites but i wanna help out. i blog everyday and each entry has its own page. so if i link the asylum with that link at the end of every entry, will that work? |

Actually, in most of the discussions about the concept behind GoogleBombing, they used web logs as one of the main vehicles for making these things work. If you were to post a link on your weblog posts, and other people had these "friends" pages, as in www.Livejournal.com then that link text could end up on thousands of new pages every day. Google is supposedly looking into ways to work around this, but it's not easy to differentiate between hard-coded pages and auto-generated pages. Go for it! Love the idea, wish my weblog was more active (maybe if I actually posted to it more than once every few months? ;-) |

Weird, maybe we've discovered the dark side of the google-bomb backlash? I know they'd been searching for ways to not get caught out on these types of spoofs, this is interesting, maybe we can learn something new? Imagine, doing an anti-google-bomb on your competitors site! Heh heh. I'm still interested in keeping this experiment active, I don't know what, but I'm sure we'll learn something! |

Maybe I am an optimist, but I think we have to wait on the next round when Google updates their data base. What you see now is based on the situation in early April or so. |

GRUMBLE: Possibly a good idea (I'll change it!!) although they'd probably find this thread quite quickly too!! Its sort of replying on the robot indexing otherwise the human would read this page a bump us. |

I don't see a reason why Google would be upset about those things. It is their algorithm, it works fine, and it is a perfect example of the democracy on the web. |

Sash has a good point--the whole idea of the Google algorithm is to rank sites according to how popular they are on the web. "Google bombing" may be explicitly taking advantage of this, but isn't it really the same thing in the end? We're just helping the process along. |
