Since there's another discussion about 5k competition going on here, I decided to post the link to 256b.htm Minimalistic HTML Competition that was held a few months ago. This competition is even crazier than 5k competition, because maximum size is 256 bytes, which is extremely small...

Anyway, take a look at the entries and see what amazing things can be done in just 256 bytes...

Ha! Luxury! I can remember when we had to use magnetic cassettes, and everything was programed in machine language...

Magnetic cassettes! You were lucky! We had to rewire our brains and configure our eyeballs as monitors to run a program!

(My impressions of the site: Oh my God that is some amazing stuff. I hold these people in the highest regard.)

um..... we could have a competition on the best program that can be outputted to a foot-and-a-half by half-inch strip of paper...
