Preserved Topic: Chess Tourney page up

I created a simple page for the chess tourney at www.haughtbk.com/ozonetourney.html I invite everyone to stop by every now and then to see how we are doing. Most of the games are off to a good start!

Veneficuz vs. insider -- they have yet to get a game started. If you guys are having problems, let me know.

Synthetic -- If no one else joins up in a day or two, I know of someone else I will invite to participate in this tournament to even things out. Just hang in there, you'll be playing soon.

I'm waiting for Inside to enable private challenges so I challenge him or is there some other way to challenge him without using the private challenge function?

Man, I can't believed I'm being sucked into this. I've only played on-line once, and I got beat by a guy name "unemployedloser". The last time I played regularly, I was consistantly pummeled by an idiot. I thought this guy would be easy to beat due to his lack of intellect and common sense, but it turned out that he's a chess genius. One night I beat him twice in a row and he's still pissed about it because I'm the only one to do so.

This doesn't compare to the good old days of a bunch of friends sitting around playing full-contact chess and table-talking out our asses, but this is fun.

warjournal - are you hinting around that you want to join in? If so, then make a player page at Stan's and I'll get you entered. I also feel your pain about losing to someone you figure you can get an easy win against. One chess grand master -- can't think of his name off the top of my head -- is quoted as saying after a tough match "How could I lose to such an idiot?!" Famous chess players are generally better known for their egos rather than their good sportmanship

My sincere apologies for my chess page being gone. Case of bad timing. Buying a house now, so decision between renewing my web site account and buying the house is a no contest kinda deal, ya know!? Not enought money for both.

Later this week I might try to slap it up on a Geocities account or something.

Also, I wanted to point out that you can post messages to your game page when you submit a move. Just type in the 'message' box that is right below your move submission button. Taunting your opponent is always fun during a heated game ...

Don't forget to eventually add my game with Skaarjj. For the record, I don't want to play Skaarjj ever again. Out for blood right off the bat. Skaarjj = aggressive and scary. He was at my front door in the first few moves. Basterd.

Wait... I was assigned????? OH IM SO SORRY!!!!!!!!!! so i have to enable this private challenges thingy? a little help hmmm.....

insider, go to your player page ... on the right side of the first green bar there is a yellow edit button. Click on it. Then find the option to turn on private challenges. Once you are set up let me know here, I'll need to dig up an opponent for you.

Anyone else having any troubles? Can you figure out how to castle, do pawn promotions and all that?

Actually .... I'de like to apologuise but I can't seem to find time for this so I am going to have to let this go but maybe the next time ya know? If I caused any trouble, again I apologuise but goodluck to those of you who are playing

Not sure what to tell y'all about the email problems. I don't bother with the email notification because I check the site at least once a day anyways. Is it possible you have the option turned off? If the problem persists, email Stan himself about it. He is very good about helping folks out.

I think one would ofer a draw (as their move) and the other would accept. I wouldn't feel stupid, a bunch of chaotic chess playing back & forth, we should still be able to work things out, no? At worst case, all the other games outside the system would be just games, for fun.

A tournament like the one we have set up here can take a while to move along. We have to wait for all the games in round one to be completed before making the round two pairings. So you are more than welcome to get some other games going on the side if you wish. No big deal at all.

If you wish to stop a game you should use the "request cancel" option rather than the "request draw" option. There is no reason to stop any extra games you have, though. Play all you want.

Later this week I will update my tournament page so that all can see 'at a glance' what is going on so far.

Updates on me vs Doc, lol I lost but not by much

Almost had a checkmate on him a couple times, but he was just to good to be traped.

I knew I had been beaten so i resigned, great match Doc I look forward to a rematch sometime

Yah, no doubt, Synthetic had me sweating more than a few times, from the beginning I felt he had me running all over the place, too many sacrifices! But I got stubborn, pulled my head in and survived. (My Queen went on a shopping spree, which didn't hurt! :-) Really, a great game, I'm looking forward to playing you again, maybe this time I can get white, and force my favorite Queens pawn opening? ;-) We'll see.

Another update, I heard from benev, game http://www.stansco.com/cgi-bin/nc_game.cgi?112452 - and he's going to forfiet the game - he's swamped under too many things to do, and I have him on the run currently. The forfeit time should come up by May 17th, assmuning he doesn't get the chance to get over their and resign. If he bows out of the tournament, where does this leave us?

BTW, I am currently "gameless". I'm a bit swamped now, so a fats-paced game like my game with Synthetic would probably kill me, but I'm open for a slower paced game, say a few moves a day? Let me know, or maybe we could start matching the players who have already finished.

I am already in 10 "off asylum" games right now, but if someone from here wants an official challege you now where to find me, and yes Doc I look forward to a rematch with you somtime and you may start white this time.

I'll update the Java viewer, if you tell me who is currently playing. We don't have a central place, (person, web site) where we report our results. In my opinion the next round should start only when everybody finishes the first one, otherwise it is not a tournament.
