There was room for improvement, but overall I'd say they did a good job.

well i've been using it for the past two hours and i'm pretty impressed. i used to be a die-hard netscape fan but jumped over to internet explorer at 4.0 and never looked back. i've got netscape 6.2 on this computer but it's a total nightmare in my opinion and i only pull it out to check for browser compatability. anyway, this is the first time i've messed around with anything from the mozilla dev team (even though i've been reading about this for three damn years) and so far it's been a good experience. pages seem to be loading properly, haven't had any crashes or malfunctions yet... good stuff.

oh no, mozilla takes a big hit!

i finally got around to loading up a page i just finished that uses extensive css markup and, despite the fact that it validates like a champ, it took a complete dump on the page. loads the content text with a white background, image alt tags, and that's that.

all heil internet exploder, weeeee.

Weird, I've had *mostly* good experiences with Mozilla in terms of rendering my pages. What's the page that failed on it?

Slime, I beleive that it was a page that mikey had done. Maybe he could upload it and let us take a look at it.

Yay, new mozzie!

The beta I've got installed now wants me to started up the program twice before I get anything more than a blank grey spanse. I hope this one works better.

Thanks for the Info slime.

yeah, i've had fairly decent luck with everything but the last page i built... http://milker.zerominuszero.net

it renders almost exactly the same in ie(5/6) and netscape(6, not 4.7 which is BAD) on the pc and mac... what's up with mozilla? what did i screw up?

woe is me.

That page loaded fine (it looks the same as in IE) for me in Mozilla 1.0 final under Windows XP...

Yeah, same for me - I can't pick out a difference in looking at it in Mozilla 1.0 or IE 6.

I have heard of occasional problems of images not appearing, and just leaving the alt tags, but never seen it myself.

Viewing source... the code looks excellently written, no errors. I assume you know, though I'll tell you since you mentioned Navigator 4.x problems, that Netscape Nav 4.x doesn't understand @import style rules.

weird, so all i had to do was return to the page using mozilla for the fifth time and then proceed to hit the refresh button seven times in a row... THEN it finally loaded the style sheet, sheesh.

i knew ahead of time that netscape 4.x, while truly one of my favorite programs ever, wouldn't load the page; but i feel that it's time to finally let the damn browser die, such is life.

back to mozilla, tabbed browser windows kick arse!

I like Opera...
Mozilla, IE, NS6 are all too slow comparing to that last one...

can you give me reasons why I should consider mozilla? (other than seeing pages correctly) ?

I downloaded that yesterday, but I found its so slow at rendering JS, I tested my new design with it, and it runs so smooth in IE, I like my code, I'd say it would go nicely on a slower computer, but it absolutely chugged along in Mozilla on my 866, if that wasnt the case I might use it.

Well written code runs smoothly on it. I'm working on a page now with javascript that runs a little faster in Moz as it does in IE.

Lallous:

"can you give me reasons why I should consider mozilla? (other than seeing pages correctly) ?"

Well... not too many. I've personally always considered the "seeing pages correctly" a big thing =) but I think IE actually does a better job with standards compliance, at least in the areas that I work in (Document Object Model, etc).

Otherwise, though, there's the advantage that it's free without ads, it has easily customizeable preferences (for stuff like cookies and privacy and stuff), although it doesn't have the feature of letting you create your own style sheet to apply to pages, which IE has. (It does let you specify default fonts and such, but not an actual style sheet in CSS.) It also has tabbed browsing capabilities.

It has *much* better standards support than Opera does.
