I don't know if anyone else has had this experiance. But I've been having a hard time coming up with ideas. Kinda like writers block, or artists block. Some times my mind races with ideas so fast that I can't keep up with it. But lately... anyone know how to shake it?

Purchase an Art diary. Take it with you every where and never let an idea slip by you!

When your in a state like you are now then it's time to start flipping through the diary. I've been doing this for the past year and a bit now - works wonders every time.

Even something simple will kick-start my right brain like a little note saying, "May 8th, on the train to university, there's a really cute girl sitting three seats down from me. She's wearing a shirt that's the most amazing colour of green I think I've ever seen, for some reason it makes me think of the beach. I've don't think I've ever seen a green that's made me think of this before"

Re-living this my mind clicked back to that state - the state of rapid and random associations between all sorts of stuff. I continue flipping through my book and new things arise through the combination of old and new words or doodles in my diary.

This topic has come up a lot, but never the less it?s still a big down when you want to create something but don?t have the ideas.

Well I feel like this right now, well not really I have the ideas it's just making it or making it work that just slows me down a lot. I have about four ideas for new artwork and about four/five ideas for a re-design for my site (as I'm bored of it now even though it's just a few months old), but for the art work it's just piecing it all together to work nice, which I don't seem to want to do for some mad reason. And for the re-designs I have just made them to complex for me to make, as I'm not a coder I can't make the main elements work. But I know I'll make something?s in reach of what I can do.

The best advice is to do something new or do something that you have not done in a while. Get out of the daily retain that you have every day and just do something else. I find that watching TV, reading a book, magazine, etc gives me ideas but are only ideas that are manipulation from what I have seen. The best ideas I get mostly when just going to sleep (ya I know a weird time to get ideas), but there good ideas if I turn them into a real thing. Another thing I do is always do is to have a note pad or something to draw/write on because you get most good ideas when you don?t expect it. It?s always handy to have a pad to draw/write things out on, because you?ll end up forgetting it if you don?t draw/write it down (unless it?s one of them ideas that just stick in your head, which with me is not often).

But people have different ways to ideas and break the artist/design bloc, so it's up to you to find it yourself, but what poeple suggest can help

There are some good solutions about this.

1) Get drunk a bit. (if itdon't work drink some more and you don't care... )
2) Go to some trash movie (i know you got the idea what can be done better )
3) Read Some good Book (no comics to low on the "use-your-imagination-scale)
4) Get drunk even more.....
5) Open the window look at the outside world (O.o Scary to do that...)
6) Listen to some music (tool, eels, bach(!)... ehr sorry)
7)Get Stoned
8 )Read some story from you little sister fairy-tale book
9) Argue about the book
10) Get sick (time is running out on you..) go to the toilet.
.....
.....
....
...
11)Got a hangover don't ya??
Stupid, never lissten to strangers anymore. Esspecially when the are behind steel bars. There is a reason for this you know....

Hmm...the advice from Drac is a beauty...but won't help unless you already have an art diary...so get one started, ASAP!!

In the meantime...what works for me...stop thinking about it. Really, just stop thinking about it. And try to cut off as much sensory input as you can...normally, block comes when the brain is overloaded, or overworked. Therefore, reduce the sensory input. You'll soon find that your brain will thank you by thinking up some new, interesting idea...
