Hey guys I just got a new notebook for doing web work etc.. It's a Seanix machine and has been great but one thing I've been noticing is that every once in a while (not all that often, seemingly randomly) the screen goes black like its been turned off.. just for a second then flicks back on immediatly... I don't think this is normal but I've never owned a notebook or laptop before.

this is happening with the laptop plugged in so its not a power issue (lack of battery juice).

think i might have a faulty machine??

Sounds like you might be getting the daemon that rests in all laptops: Overheating.

Usually (even with new models, better heat sinks and fans) overheating will affect the unit by powering it down temporarily. A good way to avoid the heat issue is to make sure that the bottom of your laptop is slightly elevated (a thin book under each side is great) allowing for some air circulation under it.

I'm sure there's a million things that it could be, but for the laptops I';ve dealt with, this is ALWAYS an issue.

Hmm, I've left my laptop on all night with the processor working full-power rendering POV-Ray images, and never had any problems. I always make sure to keep the fan clear, and it doesn't get any more than warm. It always gets hot if it's running off the battery for some reason, but I've never had any problems.

Guess I'm just lucky.

Perhaps a faulty connection between the body and the screen panel? A call to tech support may reveal if this is typical of your model.

Anybody get the idea that Artemis is taking too many pills? Did someone schedule her for shock therapy, and leave the machine on all night?

Who knows? The mystery deepens...
