Asylum Recycling Center

This idea was sparked from my Trash Can creation and the Obi-Wan lightsabre thread on the BIG SIGS board .. this is an idea and is an experiment .. this is for fun and to promote creativity .. NOT STEALING .. please follow the link to the details of the idea .. if there are any questions please ask them here .. and I will be happy to answer them

Sounds like a good idea, but with the ripping in the Asylum as it is, who's to say that this won't just facilitate that?

Suho .. I am aware of the ripping going on .. and as I stated on the topic .. anyone's work stolen this experiment will stop .. I personally do not promote ripping and will not run a "area" that helps rippers get to new/old work more easially

Well it looks like we have an Asylum trash collector (who'd have thought we'd have a volunteer??). What other positions do we have:

Overlord - Doc
Nurse - Shi
Mopper-upper - vp (on gardening leave due to stress)
Security guard - Wolfen

Any others?

As RS says it should be interesting but if it just turns into a ripperfest I'll shut it down. So have fun and share and don't break your presents

Thats a good idea RammStien, although I have a question about the ripping:

The recent ripping hasn't been by functioning members of the Asylum has it? It seems more like just outside sites that WebShaman and his followers have found, and the leaders have been scalped, so do we really have anything to worry about?

I think it's a cool idea. We could end up with some pretty good stuff in there.

Seems to me that the FAQ is turning into the Archive. Isn`t an FAQ for Frequently Asked Questions ? IMHO everything doesn`t belong there.

Don`t get me wrong, It`s a great piece of work, and an ultimately handy resource. But I believe that there should be a separation between the FAQ and the Archive.

Hmmm...I'm with DB on this one...the FAQ is supposed to be a FAQ...and not an Archive.

And yes, we have had 'ripping' inside of the Asylum...I just didn't rabidly persue them...we police our own, here.

Technically the FAQ is also an archive but I get your points

My take on things is that there are elements of the FAQ that woudn't fit into a strict definition of an FAQ but the FAQ structure is flexible enough to cope with this and so I don't see it as a problem. If certain sections take off (e.g. inmates for hire or the team project) they could be spun of to different areas/sites. I'm not sure what the Doc's long term plans are but some of the things currently in the FAQ would be better stored in a database links section (butcher is working on one for the GN redesign and I would imagine the code could be made available for the Asylum too).

Anyway as long as people don't take their eye off the main purpose of the FAQ (lets see some more FAQs added by the way) then its current uses seem fine (in my opinion - if TP or the Doc decide otherwise then thats cool).

Art .. what is a FAQ? .. that question within itself is a question about a FAQ .. so FAQ's are all about more FAQs .. what's there not to understand?
