i need a laptop. i hardly know a thing about computers anymore (been busy), but i'm gonna be on the road a bit for the next few years and i want to be able to spin decent websites off a laptop, if that's even possible. so i'm looking for something grunty enough to handle the graphics programs, obviously, as well as a bunch of school work and internet and webcams blah blah blah blah. somebody save me from the salesman script... what kind of machine should i get? |

The IBM Thinkpad is decent. I use it at home and at work (two different models). They look like black boxes - no fancy shapes or colors or anything, which I prefer. (Professionalism.) They're made to get the job done and they do it. I haven't had any problems. |

Whatever you do, do NOT get a Toshiba. 5 of my friends have Toshiba laptops, and they've ALL had to get them replaced one or two times (one friend (the one with the biggest, most expensive one) had to get his laptop replaced/fixed about 6 times). Even today none of them work very well. |

oh yeah, i forgot about the price thing. if i'm good for the next couple months, i may be able to get one around US$2500. but i'm willing to save and sacrifice longer if i find something i really really like. |

I've heard HP make the best longest lasting laptops .. not to mention IBMs are decent as well .. I don't like Compac .. and Toshiba .. well just say .. plan on buying a new laptop in about 6 months if you get a Toshiba .. they suck! |
